Chapter 163 Arranging Work
Right, Chen Liang was truly such a cheeky fellow. After teasing his younger sister, he chuckled his way out of the room.
As for Chen Dashan, he felt like giving himself a couple of slaps. That’s what you get for running your mouth just to feel good for a second. Now look at the mess: his daughter wasn't going to college anymore, and he had no idea how to clean up this disaster.
Mouth: *So I'm taking the blame for everything, am I? Have some human decency, Comrade Dashan!*
Holding his teacup and waving a cattail leaf fan, Chen Dashan went over with a gloomy expression to play chess beneath the gas lamp beside the courtyard.
Seeing Chen Dashan's look, an old man nearby couldn't help teasing, "Well, well, why does the father of our female top scholar look like he's chewing on bitter melon?"
Chen Dashan immediately let out a sigh. What was bound to come would come eventually. "Ah, don't even mention it! That little girl, she picked up some random university admission notice she found somewhere and wrote her own name on it just to play a trick on me and cheer me up!"
"What? So your daughter getting into university is fake?" the passersby chimed in one after another.
"No way, can you really just pick up an admission notice off the ground like that?"
"What's so strange about that? Aren't those notices scattered all over the place around the schools?"
"That's true. Say, Old Chen, is your university banquet still happening or not?"
"How the hell could it still happen? If I were Old Chen, I'd definitely beat my daughter up tonight when I got home. Is that the kind of joke you just go around making?" ...
All at once, some were gloating, some were consoling the father, and a large crowd of onlookers was gossiping heartily.
Chen Dashan lost all interest in continuing his chess game. He picked up his teacup and walked away.
Yet deep down, Chen Dashan was completely calm. *Hmph! If my stubborn eldest son hadn't opposed his sister going to college, I'd shove that admission notice right into all their faces!*
*I'd let them see what a slap in the face really looks like! Bah, a bunch of petty people!*
Meanwhile, after finishing their discussion with his parents, Chen Liang brought Xiaoyu back home with him.
Along the way, Chen Liang told Xiaoyu about the situation. Xiaoyu was instantly astonished and said, "So Young Sister isn't going to college after all? Such a wonderful opportunity, what a terrible pity!"
Even after they arrived home, Xiaoyu kept chattering on. Annoyed by the sound, Chen Liang looked at her cherry lips moving non-stop, pulled her directly into his arms, and silenced her with a fierce kiss!
By the time Xiaoyu was almost suffocating and rolling her eyes, Chen Liang finally released her, scooped her up in his arms, and placed her on the bed.
Then Chen Liang left the main room and headed to the bathroom he had remodeled. A whole week had passed, and everything inside was completely dry.
Chen Liang looked around with satisfaction, turned on the tap above the wooden barrel, and started building a fire to heat the water. He didn't put out the open flame until the water inside the barrel was bubbling and rolling.
Returning to the bedroom, he said, "Close your eyes, Xiaoyu, Big Brother has a surprise for you!" He lifted her up in a bridal carry.
Arriving at the bathroom, he gently blew a puff of air into Xiaoyu's ear as she rested in his arms. "You can open them now. Look what this is!"
"Oh! Big Brother, is this a wooden bathtub? Can I take a bath in here every day now?" Xiaoyu opened her eyes and asked with a delighted expression.
"That's right! This way, no matter how hot the weather gets, you can take a bath right at home!" Chen Liang's smile carried a hint of mischief, which the excited Xiaoyu completely failed to notice.
"Big Brother, put me down quickly, I want to be the first one to use it!" Xiaoyu patted Chen Liang's arm and begged him to let go.
Chen Liang scoffed inwardly, thinking she was simply too dense—why on earth wouldn't she think of taking a bath together with him?
After putting Xiaoyu down, Chen Liang watched her run back to the principal room to fetch her bathing supplies, while he stealthily pulled a pair of translucent, cicada-wing-thin sheer pajamas out of the supermarket space.
Carrying her things into the bathroom, Xiaoyu saw Chen Liang still standing there and said shyly, "Big Brother, go on out, I'm going to take a bath!"
At that moment, Chen Liang replied, "Why go out? It's much more fun if we take a bath together! You little dummy."
Hearing this, Xiaoyu muttered under her breath, "You scoundrel, I knew you were up to no good!"
Still, she didn't object, and actually looked somewhat eager to try. Chen Liang handed her the colorful sheer garment, saying, "Darling, put this on later as well!"
When Xiaoyu took it and looked, the tips of her ears instantly turned as red as blood. "Big Brother, why do you even have clothes like this?"
Chen Liang had pulled things like this out a few times before, but since they acted practically like disposable items meant for daily consumption, Xiaoyu had assumed Chen Liang had already used them all up!
After adjusting the water temperature to just the right level for a person, Chen Liang stripped off his clothes in a flash and climbed into the wooden barrel.
Xiaoyu turned around, took off her original clothes, slipped into the sheer garment Chen Liang had given her, and stepped into the large wooden barrel.
"Ah!" Soothed by the warm water, Xiaoyu let out a soft moan of comfort.
Leaning against Chen Liang's chest, the two whispered sweet nothings to each other. Chen Liang's hands grew restless, gently stroking Xiaoyu here and there.
Stirred by passion, Xiaoyu turned around, looking at Chen Liang with moisture-filled eyes. No normal man could possibly resist this, let alone a straightforward iron-willed fellow like Chen Liang.
How did that poem written by Ning Caichen for Nie Xiaoqian go again? Chen Liang had forgotten the beginning, remembering only the line: *Envying only the mandarin ducks, never the immortals!*
Chen Liang's guess had been entirely correct—this truly was a paradise of bliss for a man!
Early this morning, Chen Liang had once again specially prepared a loving breakfast for Xiaoyu, who had cried so miserably last night that she barely managed to earn her meal!
On the way to work, Chen Liang told Xiaoyu his plan for settling his younger sister, saying he would write an employment introduction letter for her later so she could report to the library.
Xiaoyu tilted her head and thought for a moment. "In that case, why don't you write one for Silly Zhu's younger sister as well? He brought this up with me last time!"
"Alright, we'll write an extra one then, and we can shove both girls into the same office later!" Chen Liang said indifferently.
By now, the library had long since been run by Chen Liang into an airtight operation; bringing two people in was no trouble at all. Besides, He Yushui was Silly Zhu's biological sister—who would dare to object?
Silly Zhu's age-old technique of withholding meat with a single spoonful of the ladle had already been starving for a chance to strike, anyway!
Arriving at the office, Xiaoyu picked up a pen, rustled off two employment introduction letters in one go, pulled out her private seal, breathed a couple of breaths onto it, and stamped them down with a crisp *thud*.
Holding the two letters of introduction, Chen Liang went to the back kitchen and, finding that Silly Zhu still hadn't arrived for work, called out for Ma Hua.
"Ma Hua, run an errand for me. Help deliver these two introduction letters to your master, and tell him one is for Yushui and the other is for Xiaorong. Tell him to bring both girls over to report immediately!"
Not daring to delay, Ma Hua took off his apron and set off. "Understood, Master Liang, I'm going right now!"
