111. This really has nothing to do with me!
“Touched the wound.”
That sentence was truly a masterstroke. Chen Ruowen immediately loosened her grip; the fierce expression from the previous moment instantly softened into one of concern.
She hadn’t forgotten about the injury on Bai Jinyan’s arm.
But after all this time, shouldn’t the wound have healed already?
Chen Ruowen counted the days… It seemed, it had only been just over a month.
She gently rolled up Bai Jinyan’s right sleeve. On the originally fair arm was a long scar, thick and unsightly scabs covering almost the entire forearm—a shocking reminder of just how severe the cut had been.
Chen Ruowen was deeply frustrated.
Bai Jinyan had never mentioned it; she had assumed the wound had long since healed.
“I didn’t mean to…” Chen Ruowen said softly.
“It’s alright.”
Bai Jinyan calmly let his sleeve fall back down and patted the back of her hand.
That move seemed a bit too impactful… better not to use it again.
“I just think Ma Yunan’s questions are too awkward; not many people… kiss me,” Bai Jinyan explained.
Well, not having someone kiss me and me not kissing others are two different things.
I’m not lying…
Chen Ruowen nodded, about to say something when suddenly she felt a weight in her arms. Puzzled, she looked up to see the host—whose name she didn’t know—and the surrounding classmates all looking at her with excitement.
And in her arms…
There was now a half-drunk bottle of mineral water.
“Sis Wen, sis Wen, truth or dare?” Ma Yunan excitedly asked.
Recalling Bai Jinyan’s earlier comment about Ma Yunan’s awkward questions, Chen Ruowen hesitated but answered.
“Dare.”
“Awesome!” Ma Yunan grew even more excited.
It had been several rounds since anyone chose dare; this time, something big was going to happen!
Before Ma Yunan could think of what kind of dare to propose, Zhang Yuan—equally eager to stir things up—jumped in immediately.
“I’ve been thinking about this one for a long time, but no one picks dare,” Zhang Yuan said with a triumphant expression that made Chen Ruowen uneasy. “Here’s a treat, Chen Ruowen—choose one of the guys here!”
“Choose one for what?”
“To give him a kiss!”
The crowd instantly buzzed with excitement. Ma Yunan, unabashed, stepped forward with eyes shining, pointing to his own face and striking a heroic pose.
“Sis Wen, to help you complete your punishment, I’m going all in! Come on, kiss whoever you want. No need to thank me—I’m sacrificing myself for the happiness of millions. This is what being a model youth is all about!”
This guy…
Really thick-skinned!
Under the pressure and watchful eyes of classmates who barely knew each other, Chen Ruowen silently reached out, then without hesitation grabbed the collar of the person to her left, pulling Bai Jinyan in front of her. She decisively turned and planted a kiss on Bai Jinyan’s cheek.
Yes, staking her claim first, so no one could take advantage of Bai Jinyan under the guise of punishment.
I really am clever.
“Wooooah!!!” The onlookers erupted with excitement.
A few girls looked displeased, but Chen Ruowen couldn’t care less!
“Come on, Bai Jinyan, how do you feel now?” the crowd playfully “interviewed” him.
Bai Jinyan was still looking at Chen Ruowen; his mind had blanked out for a full five seconds, and his expression was still somewhat dazed.
He didn’t hear the surrounding cheers at all—his mind was filled with the warm, sweet breath Chen Ruowen had just leaned in with.
The feeling was like having eaten ten pounds of lollipops.
Bai Jinyan’s features unconsciously softened.
“Wooooah! Bai Jinyan smiled!” Zhang Yuan pointed at him from across the circle, his face the picture of a delighted onlooker.
Only then did Bai Jinyan come back to himself. He pushed aside Chen Ruowen, who had moved on after “taking advantage,” completely ignoring the gossiping eyes around them.
“Your turn to host.”
Chen Ruowen hummed and stood to the center of the circle.
She thought she wouldn’t be nervous in such a small setting, yet her heart still raced uncontrollably.
What was Bai Jinyan thinking just now? The boy who set off fireworks said he smiled—did he really?
She should’ve looked at him right after the kiss…
Whether from guilt or shyness, Chen Ruowen didn’t speak to Bai Jinyan or look at him for the next few rounds.
Bai Jinyan remained as calm as if nothing had happened, not initiating any conversation with Chen Ruowen.
Until another round, when a female classmate Chen Ruowen didn’t remember chose dare.
“Pick a guy among us, sit in front of him, gaze deeply into his eyes for thirty seconds, then confess your feelings!” Zhang Yuan once again proposed a mischievous idea.
The girl blushed, scanning the dozen or so boys present, then sat up and walked over to Bai Jinyan.
Chen Ruowen raised an eyebrow; Ma Yunan excitedly grabbed the arm of the boy to his right.
“Now this will be interesting!”
The girl hesitated but bravely sat down across from Bai Jinyan.
“Bai—”
“No!” Chen Ruowen stretched out her hand, blocking the girl’s gaze.
The crowd cheered excitedly.
Two girls fighting over one guy! How thrilling!
The school forbids dating, yet right after the college entrance exam, such excitement breaks out!
At times like this, one really wishes they had a handful of sunflower seeds and a small stool to sit down and watch the show!
“Chen Ruowen…” the girl’s expression was a little awkward.
Though it was just a game, she had finally mustered the courage to use this as an opportunity to confess.
Now, before she had even started, Chen Ruowen had already stopped her—it was humiliating.
“This is just a game,” the girl said, somewhat annoyed.
“Pick someone else,” Chen Ruowen insisted without yielding, even clutching Bai Jinyan’s injured arm, her tone angrier than the girl’s. “He’s mine. No one else is allowed to touch him!”
Bai Jinyan couldn’t help but curl the corner of his mouth.
He hadn’t touched any alcohol tonight, but he felt as if he were drunk.
Bai Jinyan’s faint smile made the girl’s expression dim.
She had known she couldn’t win, but if she didn’t try, she would never be satisfied.
“Bai Jinyan, what do you say?” the girl asked, holding onto her last hope.
Bai Jinyan glanced at the girl to his right, who was clearly upset, then gave the girl an apologetic look before calling out to Ma Yunan, who was eagerly watching the scene unfold.
“Didn’t you just say you’d sacrifice yourself for the happiness of millions?”
Ma Yunan proudly patted his chest.
“Come on, all eyes on me. I don’t mind a three-minute show—watch all you want! Confessions? No problem! If you’re too shy to say it, I’ll even collect love letters. Ten or eight letters from each girl in the class would be fine! My harem is vast; not one can be missing!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
The girl glanced at Bai Jinyan one last time, then disappointedly moved to sit across from Ma Yunan.
Chen Ruowen gave Bai Jinyan’s waist a hard pinch.
I knew it! Someone was definitely trying to take advantage of Bai Jinyan under the pretense of graduation!
Unexpectedly, the first to step up wasn’t one of the two who always hovered around Bai Jinyan—that scoundrel, just how many admirers has he stirred up outside?
Chen Ruowen fumed, squeezing even harder.
Bai Jinyan rubbed his aching waist innocently but dared not say a word.
This really isn’t my fault!
