Chapter Fifty-Eight: A Gift of a Person
Ren Changfeng had not expected Chu Bing to suddenly pull such a move; she crashed into him, making his nose sting and his eyes fill with stars. Instinctively, he released his hold. Chu Bing hurriedly scrambled off the bed, jumped down, spat at him in disdain, and darted away.
Clutching his nose, Ren Changfeng grimaced, his gaze coldly following Chu Bing's retreat. He tried to restrain himself, but couldn’t help letting out a chuckle.
So she’s a little cat with claws.
Quite amusing!
Chu Bing dashed out from Ren Changfeng’s quarters, her face dark with anger.
Ren Changfeng was utterly disgusting, talking about making her his concubine!
She strode quickly, the fury still burning inside her.
“All men are pigs!” she muttered.
None of them can be trusted...
She went straight back to the laundry room. The people in the courtyard, who had been chatting, fell silent at her return, burying themselves in their work.
Chu Bing entered the room, surprised to find a particularly charming young maid inside.
“Who are you?”
The maid wore silk garments, her skin fair and delicate—clearly unused to labor.
“I’m Mingyue,” the young maid replied, not very old but with a considerable temper, arrogantly pointing at a bed, “I want that spot!”
“Why should you?” Chu Bing laughed in disbelief.
She had always thought herself hot-tempered, yet today she met someone even more overbearing.
Mingyue looked around the room with disdain, lifted her chin, and declared, “I’m not like you all! Though I’ve been sent here for now, I’m destined to return and become a concubine!”
“Whose concubine?” Chu Bing asked curiously.
Li Mochan? Or Li Yuxi?
A blush of shyness crossed Mingyue’s face as she replied with pride, “Of course, Second Young Master’s!”
“Second Young Master is so gentle, he’ll come to fetch me back for sure!”
Hearing her syrupy address of “Second Young Master,” Chu Bing shuddered, goosebumps rising, her mind suddenly flashing with an idea.
Since this girl was so eager to become a concubine, wasn’t this the perfect opportunity?
That lunatic Ren Changfeng was desperate for a woman; she could just send him this one.
A mischievous smile crept onto Chu Bing’s face as she rotated her wrist and approached Mingyue.
Mingyue eyed her warily. “What are you up to?”
Chu Bing grinned wickedly. “Didn’t you want to be a concubine? I’ll help you.”
With that, she karate-chopped the maid’s neck.
Mingyue collapsed softly into Chu Bing’s arms.
Chu Bing didn’t dare carry her out just then. She waited until nightfall, then transported Mingyue—using her teleportation ability—straight to Ren Changfeng’s courtyard.
Ren Changfeng was practicing his martial arts. When he saw Chu Bing supporting a maid into his room, his gaze sharpened. “What’s going on?”
Before he could react, Chu Bing threw the girl into his arms.
Chu Bing clapped her hands, her smile full of mischief. “Didn’t you want a woman? I brought you one—look, isn’t she pretty!”
Ren Changfeng was stunned, then abruptly tossed the woman aside, his face darkening.
“Hong...Xiu!” he barked angrily through clenched teeth.
Chu Bing paused, perplexed. “She’s really lovely, you’re getting the better deal!”
Her face was disguised now—cute, but too childish. Men surely preferred the delicate charm of someone like Mingyue.
If Mingyue hadn’t been so determined to be a concubine, Chu Bing would never have brought her.
Ren Changfeng saw her confused gaze, clearly clueless to his intentions. He felt both furious and stifled. “Take her back, now!”
Chu Bing couldn’t understand why he was so angry. She’d tried to be thoughtful, yet he scolded her instead. Her temper flared. “Good intentions wasted! Don’t expect me to care for you again!”
“...Get out!” Ren Changfeng turned abruptly and stormed inside, his steps quick and aggressive.
Bang. The door slammed shut with a loud crash.
Chu Bing shrank back, muttering, “What’s his problem? I tried to help him, and he bites my head off!”
The system, observing all this, couldn’t help but ask in a strange tone, “You really don’t know why he’s angry?”
Chu Bing snorted. “Of course I know—he’s frustrated, like all men. He probably took care of it himself, and I was just too late!”
At the thought of that man handling things himself, she suddenly felt a strange smell in the air, wrinkling her little face in disgust and fanning her nose.
“…” The system was speechless.
Chu Bing glanced at Mingyue on the floor, rolled her eyes, and could only hoist the girl up once more and carry her away.
She returned Mingyue to her original room, then slipped out through the window. She was about to find another place to stay to avoid direct contact with Master Ren when she spotted two familiar figures facing each other.
Li Yuxi and Li Mochan!
But the atmosphere between the brothers was off—tense, as if a fight could erupt at any moment. Their faces were cold, their eyes not those of siblings but of sworn enemies.
What was happening?
Chu Bing hid in the undergrowth, eyes wide as she watched the two brothers.
Suddenly, they moved.
Li Yuxi’s attacks were sharp and relentless, his sword shifting angles to strike at Li Mochan’s vital points.
Li Mochan did not hold back; every move was at full strength. The two exchanged blows—blades flashing, swords dancing—until, separating, both bore cuts on their bodies.
Chu Bing was dizzy from the spectacle, puzzled. What was wrong with these two? Their relationship hadn’t been great before, but at least when Li Mochan was in danger, Li Yuxi would help. Now, they seemed intent on killing each other!
Li Mochan, weakened from a previous injury, was caught by Li Yuxi, who stabbed him in the shoulder. He tumbled to the ground, and as he struggled up, his face remained cold and silent, staring at Li Yuxi.
Li Yuxi twirled his sword and stood at ease, murderous intent radiating from him.
“I didn’t want to kill you, but you all forced me!” Li Yuxi’s eyes flashed with madness as he approached Li Mochan, sword in hand.
The icy blade scraped a long line across the ground, and Chu Bing’s heart leapt—Li Yuxi truly meant to kill Li Mochan!
Li Mochan couldn’t die!
He might be the only one who knows where Li Haoran is!
Chu Bing still needed to complete her mission; such an important clue couldn’t be lost!
She gritted her teeth, determined to try her latest invention—the teleportation array!
Only this method could rescue Li Mochan from right under Li Yuxi’s nose.
She quickly set up the array around herself, concealing her presence, then teleported to Li Mochan’s side. Grabbing his wrist, she whisked him away, out from under Li Yuxi’s gaze, straight to the other side of the courtyard wall.
To Li Yuxi, Li Mochan—an entire living person—vanished into thin air, leaving no trace!
His expression changed dramatically as he scanned the surroundings, searching for a long time without finding any clue.
A hint of suspicion flashed in Li Yuxi’s eyes. Who could have the ability to rescue someone right under his nose, leaving not a single trace behind?
