The light around them grew dimmer and dimmer. After Yun Xin left with her gang of lackeys, even the jailers kept their distance from Chu Bing and her brother, afraid of getting caught up in any reprisal.

Chu Bing leaned against Chu Wenyen, closing her eyes to rest.

Just then, a soft sound broke the stillness in the air.

Chu Bing opened her eyes to see a man in black leap in through the window.

It was none other than Long San.

"Long San? What are you doing here?" Chu Bing immediately glanced toward the jailers—if anyone saw this, they would think he was here to break them out!

Fortunately, it was deep into the night and the jailers were dozing at their desks, paying no attention to what was happening.

Long San lowered his voice. "My young master sent me. Miss Chu, please rest assured. My young master will have you out of here soon. I only ask that you endure a little longer."

Chu Bing frowned anxiously. "What can your young master possibly do? He isn't planning a jailbreak, is he? Tell him not to do anything foolish!"

Though imprisoned, Chu Bing was not overly worried—for she still had one last trump card.

The System.

Chu Bing was certain that if she ever truly faced death, the System would not abandon her.

The System, which had already guessed her thoughts…

"Please be at ease, Miss Chu. My young master has his own methods and will not cause any trouble. All you need to do is wait patiently."

Chu Bing thought for a moment, then instructed, "Go back and tell your young master, if he has to break the law to save us siblings, then it's not worth it. We will not die so easily."

Long San was curious as to where Chu Bing's confidence came from, but she was clearly uninterested in explaining. He could only bow and take his leave, gathering his energy for a light, silent exit.

Chu Bing looked at the empty window and sighed. If a jailbreak could solve everything, she could have left on her own. But the stain on her name had yet to be washed away—how could her restaurant ever open again? If she ran now, everyone would believe that someone really had died in her establishment, and that she was fleeing in guilt.

That was why Chu Bing chose to stay.

At that moment, Chu Wenyen, who had been sleeping soundly, finally awoke.

He was in such pain that his breaths came in short, sharp gasps.

Chu Bing immediately went to him, supporting him. "Wenyen, you're awake?"

She had already tended to his wounds, but she couldn't make it as if nothing had happened. The pain lingered in his body still.

"Sis?" Chu Wenyen blinked, his gaze roaming the cell, shocked to find himself behind bars.

"What happened? How did we end up in a cell?"

His memory returned, recalling the magistrate he’d seen in court. His anger flared. "Was it that scoundrel of an official, using his power for personal vendettas and framing us on purpose?"

Seeing his agitation, as if he wanted to leap up, Chu Bing couldn’t help but give him a firm smack on the head. "Are you done making a fuss?"

Chu Wenyen rubbed his head, looking at her with innocent confusion, not understanding what he’d done wrong.

"Anyone could see they came to set us up, yet you lost your temper and fought them. You practically handed them the evidence on a platter!" Chu Bing tapped his forehead, exasperated.

Chu Wenyen hung his head in embarrassment. "I know I was wrong."

He shrank back, his face pale and pitiful. Chu Bing’s heart softened, and she sighed. "Don’t be so reckless next time. Let this be a lesson to you."

"Alright. But, Sis, how are we going to get out?" He leaned against the wall, worry in his eyes. "That corrupt official won’t let us go easily. I fear this time, we…"

…won’t be able to go back.

Chu Bing was about to comfort her foolish brother when she heard a commotion outside the window. She thought Long San had returned.

But instead, a group of men in black descended from the night sky.

Judging by their movements and bearing, they seemed oddly familiar to Chu Bing.

She shifted in front of Chu Wenyen, wary. "Who are you people?"

The men glanced at each other, but none answered. Instead, they rushed at the siblings.

"Get back!"

Chu Bing shoved Chu Wenyen aside and faced the attackers alone. But her own wounds had not yet healed, and she was still weak—how could she withstand so many?

With a thud, a man in black struck Chu Bing in the chest. Pain washed over her, her face drained of color as she staggered back, leaning against the wall, gasping for breath.

"System, system, come out!" she called anxiously in her mind, watching the black-clad figures approach.

The System gave no response.

Chu Bing sneered, "If I die, you’ll never complete your mission! You’d better think carefully—this is no time to play silent!"

The System replied, "Host, you can’t rely on me for everything. You must depend on yourself…"

"Fine, fine! If I get through this, I’ll rely on myself! But right now, I’m in mortal danger! Dear System, quick, think of something!" Chu Bing could already feel the cold edge of their blades.

They wanted her dead.

Sensing the urgency, the System finally said, "I’ll grant you a short-term explosive power. It’s very strong—you must control it and not harm your own people."

"Alright, do it already!"

At those words, a surge of heat flooded her fingers. The sensation was familiar—the same as when she’d received the teleportation ability.

Without hesitation, she pointed behind the black-clad men. A deafening explosion shook the cell as the wall behind them collapsed.

Rubble rained down, catching the men off guard and burying them all.

The black-clad men looked at Chu Bing in disbelief. They couldn’t fathom her strength.

With just a gesture, she had shattered a wall that thick—what incredible inner power!

Who was this woman?

Seizing the opportunity, Chu Bing hurried to Chu Wenyen, grabbing his arm. "Let’s go!"

Chu Wenyen’s lips were bloodless, his wounds throbbing with pain. He glanced back at the black-clad men, a trace of fury in his eyes, hating his own lack of strength. If only he were stronger, his sister wouldn’t have had to act.

Chu Bing dragged him out the window. Both siblings were wounded, but thankfully she still had her teleportation ability. The range was small, yet teleportation left no trace and gave no warning.

By the time the men in black dug themselves free and gave chase, the siblings were long gone.

"Damn it!"

"Chief, what now?"

"Split up and search! That woman must not escape tonight!"
