Chu Bing spent the night in Li Haoran’s room. She slept on the bed while Li Haoran rested on the footstool.

That night, her sleep was restless; she kept dreaming of the masked man’s bloodstained long sword. Each time she woke, Li Haoran was by her side, and gradually she would fall asleep again.

At dawn, Li Haoran gently roused her. Lowering his voice, he said, “Miss Chu, while everyone is still asleep, we should hurry to the doctor outside the manor. Once they wake up, it’ll be difficult to sneak out.”

Chu Bing touched her wound. Thanks to the treatment the previous night, the bleeding had stopped. Now all she needed was rest—whether or not she went out made no difference. She shook her head, her voice hoarse, “No need to see the doctor. My injury has improved a lot.”

“Don’t lie to me. Such a serious wound...” Li Haoran protested.

“I really am better. If you don’t believe me, look.” Chu Bing pulled aside the clothing covering her shoulder, a helpless expression on her face.

Li Haoran froze for a moment, his eyes involuntarily drawn to her fair shoulder. Realizing himself, he abruptly turned away and stood up. “Miss Chu, put your clothes back on immediately!”

Seeing his back turned, Chu Bing looked at him puzzled, “What are you doing?”

Her shoulder was wrapped in thick bandages, only a sliver of skin visible, so she had no idea what the problem was. Hearing her voice, Li Haoran blushed deeply, recalling what he had just seen.

“I—I’m going to see if there’s any food!” he said hurriedly, then dashed out before Chu Bing could stop him.

Chu Bing adjusted her clothes and sat up, only to hear faint knocking at the window. Her expression darkened as she silently shot a hidden weapon straight at the window. “Who’s out there?”

No sound came from outside the window, but the door was pushed open.

It was Li Mohan.

His face was grim, expressionless as he stood in the doorway.

Chu Bing was momentarily stunned, then a flicker of joy crossed her face. “Young Master!”

She struggled to get off the bed, standing barefoot on the floor.

Li Mohan’s gaze fell on her delicate feet, his pupils narrowing slightly as he approached. He bent down and lifted her into his arms.

“Ah!” Chu Bing was startled, quickly wrapping her arms around his neck. “Young Master, what are you doing?”

Li Mohan gently placed her back on the bed, his voice low and steady. “Why were you in my third brother’s room last night?”

She was wearing Li Haoran’s undergarments, and at first glance, Li Mohan’s anger flared.

Chu Bing lowered her eyes, unsure how to explain. She nervously fiddled with her fingers, looking pitiful.

Li Mohan regarded the top of her head with a cold expression.

“I was mistaken for an assassin last night and got injured. Li Haoran saved me, so I stayed there overnight,” she said quietly, mustering courage.

Li Mohan watched her silently. “If you were hurt, why didn’t you come back to me?”

“I... I was injured and couldn’t walk. The place was full of soldiers...” Chu Bing lifted her face to meet his gaze, her voice uneasy.

Li Mohan seemed genuinely angry. Could it be that he believed the rumors that she intended to assassinate their father?

Biting her lip, Chu Bing explained anxiously, “Young Master, please believe me. I never meant to harm Master.”

“Then why were you in my father’s room last night?” Li Mohan’s tone was icy, devoid of emotion.

Chu Bing flushed deeply, unable to explain. The whole story about the red envelope was simply too scandalous.

She lowered her head and fell silent, fueling Li Mohan’s rising anger.

“I want you to remember: you are my maid. If anything happens, you should come to me, not my third brother.”

Leaning over her, Li Mohan spoke slowly and deliberately.

Chu Bing was momentarily stunned, then suddenly realized—was Li Mohan jealous?

Blinking, she cautiously looked up and asked, “Young Master, are you jealous?”

A hint of a smile played in her eyes.

Li Mohan was truly... so reserved!

She looked at him with no trace of fear, only delight. At least it meant he cared.

Li Mohan frowned slightly, avoiding her shining eyes awkwardly. His face darkened as he snapped, “Don’t talk nonsense! You’re my maid. How can you keep causing trouble for my third brother?”

“Yes, yes! I’m the Young Master’s maid!” Chu Bing nodded vigorously, smiling sweetly.

Although she agreed with him, for some reason Li Mohan showed no sign of happiness.

He bent down, took off his coat, and draped it over Chu Bing. Then, with arms wrapped around her, he said, “I’m taking you back.”

Chu Bing hooked her arms around his neck, giggling as she rested her head against his chest.

“You really do like me, Young Master.”

Li Mohan’s face remained unreadable as he leapt onto the wall.

Familiar with the manor’s layout and skilled in martial arts, he easily avoided the soldiers’ patrols, bringing Chu Bing back to the courtyard without a hitch.

Old Zhao had been anxious all night, unable to sleep. Sitting on a chair in the courtyard, he looked up just in time to see Li Mohan descending from the wall carrying a woman.

Immediately standing, he asked, “What happened? Is she hurt?”

He reached out to lift the clothes covering Chu Bing.

Li Mohan turned slightly, avoiding his hand. “Go find some clean clothes and get some medicine.”

“Yes.” Old Zhao glanced at Chu Bing with concern and hurried out.

Chu Bing pulled back the garment covering her head, revealing a delicate, youthful face. “Young Master, my wound isn’t that bad. I can walk myself.”

In front of Old Zhao, she felt a bit embarrassed.

Li Mohan glanced at her coolly before pressing her head back into his arms.

Her flailing hands and feet were subdued.

“Young Master!”

Chu Bing shouted in protest.

“Hmm,” Li Mohan replied, a faint smile flickering in his eyes.

He kicked the door open and gently laid Chu Bing on his bed. “Starting today, you’ll stay here with me. Until you’re fully healed, you’re not to go anywhere.”

Chu Bing widened her eyes. “That won’t do!”

Though her injury hadn’t reached the bone, it still required at least a month of careful rest.

If she stayed here for a whole month without leaving, what about her mission?

She worried the system might scold her to death.

Li Mohan’s cold gaze locked onto her. “If I catch you leaving even once, you won’t be staying by my side anymore.”

Chu Bing...

She timidly raised her hands in surrender. “I’ll listen to you, Young Master.”

After all, she wanted to stay close to him. If necessary, she could sneak off to Li Haoran’s courtyard in secret.
