Chapter 103: Becoming Your Little Maid
Chu Bing’s eyes were fixed intently on the direction of the city wall, her face flushed with excitement. What was the capital city? It was freedom!
Her foot had healed, and once inside the city, she planned to slip into the crowds with teleportation. That way, even if Ren Changfeng and Li Yuxi tried to find her, it would be nearly impossible.
“Master Ren, that looks like a carriage from the Li estate,” a soldier outside the carriage suddenly said.
The Li estate?
Chu Bing’s eyes lit up as she followed his gaze. A blue carriage was parked outside the city walls, with a coachman sitting outside. The face was unfamiliar to her, so she wasn’t sure which member of the Li family it was.
If it were Li Mohan, that would be perfect!
Chu Bing looked as if she wanted to stick her head out immediately. Li Yuxi glanced at her with a hint of jealousy and sneered, “You’re so excited. If Ren Changfeng sees you like this, he might misunderstand and think you still long for the Li family.”
Chu Bing’s ankle was healed, and now that they were in the capital, she wasn’t afraid of him at all. She replied irritably, “That’s none of your concern. We’re already in the capital. Haven’t you taken enough rides? When are you getting off?”
Li Yuxi raised an eyebrow, his eyes cold. “When you leave, I leave.”
So, he still intended to follow her?
Chu Bing clenched her fists in frustration.
Suddenly, Ren Changfeng’s voice came from outside: “Strengthen the guard. The Li family’s people are cunning. Do not let their men get close.”
The carriage moved toward the city gate, and the Li estate’s carriage headed out the city, the two sides drawing closer. Chu Bing immediately ignored Li Yuxi, focusing all her attention on the carriage opposite.
Behind her, Li Yuxi’s gaze was cold and inscrutable.
Chu Bing... do you like the Li family so much? Is it Li Mohan, or Li Haoran?
The two carriages drew nearer, the atmosphere thickening with tension. Suddenly, the curtain of the other carriage was blown open by the wind, revealing a face Chu Bing knew very well.
Her eyes brightened instantly, nearly bursting to leap up and rush forward.
It was Li Mohan!
He was handsome and aloof, speaking with someone beside him, completely oblivious to the outside commotion.
Chu Bing opened her mouth to call out, but a hand suddenly covered her mouth tightly.
“Mm, mmm!”
Li Yuxi covered Chu Bing’s mouth and dragged her back into the carriage, preventing her from making any noise that might alert Li Mohan.
Despair filled Chu Bing’s eyes as she watched Li Mohan’s carriage moving farther away, silently cursing Li Yuxi.
What a bastard!
“Host, urgent notice: Li Mohan is about to meet Li Haoran. If you don’t follow now, you’ll miss your chance!” the system’s voice suddenly became urgent.
Hearing this, Chu Bing struggled desperately, as if risking her life. Seeing this, Li Yuxi’s jealousy almost materialized. “What’s so good about Li Mohan? Are you going to risk your life for him?”
His voice was low, audible only to Chu Bing, tinged with a dangerous undertone. Chu Bing’s hairs stood on end as she quickly searched for a way out. She first feigned submission to calm Li Yuxi. “I’m not risking my life for him. It’s just rare to see a familiar face, I got excited,” she said with a forced smile and a sidelong glance at Li Yuxi.
Her smiling eyes and round face exuded a pleasing charm, instantly lifting the mood. Li Yuxi chuckled softly and reluctantly loosened his grip.
Seizing the moment, Chu Bing teleported without hesitation, landing on a nearby tree branch.
Li Yuxi watched helplessly as Chu Bing disappeared before him, his expression turning icy cold.
Rubbing his fingers, he sneered, “I really did underestimate you.”
His gaze followed the direction where Chu Bing vanished, coldness almost tangible. With a sweep of his robe, he leapt out of the carriage.
The coachman noticed the noise behind him, turned, and saw the empty carriage. His face changed drastically as he shouted, “Master, Miss Hongxiu is missing!”
Riding ahead, Ren Changfeng’s face darkened. He immediately spurred his horse to the carriage and found it empty—Chu Bing’s whereabouts unknown.
The coachman cautiously explained, “I just saw a figure jump out of the carriage. It looked like... Li Yuxi.”
Ren Changfeng’s expression turned extremely grim. “Hongxiu would never leave on her own. Li Yuxi must have kidnapped her!”
There was no way Hongxiu could have disappeared under so many eyes by herself. Li Yuxi took her away!
His gaze darkened as he stared toward the capital city. “The Li estate! This grudge will not be avenged, I swear I will not rest as a man!”
Chu Bing emerged from the carriage, not daring to look back. She continuously teleported, closely following Li Mohan’s carriage.
Her heart raced, afraid Li Yuxi would catch up.
After about half an hour, Chu Bing watched helplessly as Li Mohan’s carriage pulled into an inn.
Li Mohan was accompanied by several servants, including Old Zhao, who was attending to him at the meal.
Sitting in the hall, Li Mohan exuded a forbidding cold aura, his movements elegant and reserved, clearly unlike an ordinary man.
After the meal, Li Mohan was led upstairs by a waiter. Anxious, Chu Bing quickly set a concealment array on herself and cautiously followed them, entering Li Mohan’s room as well.
The door creaked shut.
Li Mohan walked to the window, his expression icy and aloof, like a lofty immortal exiled from the heavens.
Watching his profile, Chu Bing’s heart ached with bitterness.
Even after all this time apart, Li Mohan hadn’t changed at all!
Did he not worry about her even a little?
In her excitement, Chu Bing forgot to control the array on her body, slowly revealing her form in the room.
Li Mohan sensed another breath in the room. He turned sharply, his eyes widening as a familiar round face came into view.
His whole body stiffened. “Hongxiu?”
Chu Bing pouted, her tone stiff. “I thought the young master had long forgotten me.”
A flicker of emotion seemed to pass through Li Mohan’s deep eyes but vanished so quickly it was unnoticed.
He lowered his gaze, his voice hoarse. “I thought... you were dead.”
Li Yuxi hated him to the bone. How could he leave behind someone so important as Hongxiu? He would torture her endlessly and then kill her.
He never expected to see Chu Bing again here. He thought she was dead.
Chu Bing stepped forward and explained, “Li Yuxi didn’t kill me. I escaped from him and wanted to return to the Li estate. On the way, I happened to see your carriage and followed it here.”
Her eyes locked on Li Mohan’s, filled with a hopeful longing. “Young master, can I still be your little maid?”
