Ren Changfeng and his men had only one target: Li Yuxi.

As long as Chu Bing uttered a single cry, they would rush in immediately.

Yet, upon hearing these words, Li Yuxi showed not the slightest trace of fear. Instead, he raised his brows, a wanton smile dancing across his lips. “You won’t call for them. They can’t do anything to me, anyway.”

Chu Bing was taken aback, suddenly realizing he spoke the truth.

If she called people in and everyone saw her and Li Yuxi together on the same bed, how could she possibly explain herself? In everyone’s eyes, she would already be marked as belonging to Li Yuxi.

Moreover, after consuming that mysterious fruit, no one knew the extent of Li Yuxi’s current strength.

Chu Bing dared not take the risk.

Li Yuxi observed her silent fury, a glimmer of amusement flickering in his eyes. He leaned closer, lowering his voice, his tone tinged with ambiguity. “You really are cruel-hearted. You left just like that. I’ve missed you to the point of falling ill from longing—tonight, you must make it up to me.”

One of his hands encircled her waist, while the other gently pinched her chin, his gaze burning as he stared at her crimson lips.

Chu Bing’s heart thudded wildly in her chest.

But she quickly cursed herself inwardly for being so susceptible to his charms.

Gritting her teeth, she glared at him. “Let go! Li Yuxi, I saved your life at least once. Can’t you repay a kindness for once?”

Li Yuxi feigned innocence. “Aren’t I repaying you right now?”

“How, exactly? I don’t see it at all!” Chu Bing seethed, teeth clenched. This man was an utter scoundrel!

Climbing onto her bed in the dead of night—if anyone found out, how could she face anyone ever again?

Li Yuxi inched even closer, and even though Chu Bing was angry, she seemed all the more adorable in his eyes.

He was so close, his lips nearly brushing her cheek. He watched the trembling of her lashes, a faint smile curling his mouth. “Of course I’m repaying you. Isn’t it obvious…? Can’t you tell?”

Chu Bing looked at him, confused.

Li Yuxi tugged at his collar, his eyes glinting with a dangerously seductive charm. “I’m offering myself to you.”

His shirt slipped halfway off, revealing an exquisite collarbone. His gaze was mesmerizing, beautiful to the extreme.

Even as a woman, Chu Bing found herself breathless at the sight.

This man was a veritable enchantress!

Li Yuxi saw the dazed fascination in her eyes, a gentle warmth softening his features. He brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, his voice low and tender. “Chu Bing, don’t be afraid of me.”

He spoke as though to a beloved, every word making her heart race faster. She gazed up at him foolishly.

Why did it feel as though he wasn’t teasing her, but rather… confessing?

Could it be that he truly liked her?

Chu Bing was bewildered.

She tried to struggle out of Li Yuxi’s embrace, but he gave her no chance to escape. The cool scent of his body filled her senses.

Dazed, she wondered if this was yet another of his schemes.

Suddenly, a wave of dizziness swept over her; she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep.

Li Yuxi withdrew his hands. He knew Chu Bing would never lower her guard around him, but after the day’s injuries, he wanted her to rest—so he simply tapped her sleep acupoint.

Lowering his head, he gazed at her peaceful sleeping face in his arms and couldn’t resist kissing her lightly on the forehead.

“Sweet dreams, silly girl.”

Early the next morning.

Chu Bing awoke from her sleep with a dazed expression. Last night…

She turned her head. A man was holding her tightly—Li Yuxi!

As memories flooded back, Chu Bing instinctively tried to break free, only to discover that her hand seemed to be clutching something.

Her face paled as she squeezed whatever it was.

A husky male voice sounded in her ear. “If you keep moving, I can’t promise what I might do.”

Huh?

Chu Bing looked up in confusion, meeting the forbearance in Li Yuxi’s eyes. He was like a beast lurking in the dark, locked on his prey.

A sense of danger shot through her. Hesitantly, she glanced down—her hand was inside Li Yuxi’s… trousers!

“Ah!”

What she was holding—

Chu Bing’s face went deathly white. A surge of strength rushed through her and she shoved Li Yuxi away.

She sat on the edge of the bed, hair spilling over her shoulders, eyes wild with panic.

Seeing her frightened, Li Yuxi’s heart softened. He was about to comfort the terrified girl when suddenly Ren Changfeng’s voice called from outside the tent, “Hongxiu, what’s wrong?”

Chu Bing froze. Li Yuxi quickly held a finger to his lips.

Chu Bing immediately realized—if Ren Changfeng found out she’d been with Li Yuxi, they’d surely assume she was in league with him!

At that point, she could forget about leaving—she’d probably be chopped down as Li Yuxi’s accomplice!

“Hongxiu? I’m coming in!” Ren Changfeng, hearing no reply, was about to open the tent.

“Wait! Don’t come in, I’m not dressed yet!” Chu Bing cried at once.

Fearing Ren Changfeng might do something unpredictable, she hurried to add, “I just had a nightmare. I’m alright now. I’ll be out in a minute!”

“Alright, take your time. Breakfast is ready; I’ll wait for you outside,” Ren Changfeng replied, withdrawing.

Once the sounds outside faded, Chu Bing glared at Li Yuxi. “You need to leave. Now!”

Li Yuxi frowned slightly. “Aren’t you coming with me?”

“Why should I?” Chu Bing scoffed coldly, hopping off the bed to put on her shoes.

Li Yuxi noticed her pale face from the pain in her ankle, his gaze flickering. Silently, he knelt down before her, took the shoes from her hands, and gently put them on her feet.

Chu Bing was momentarily stunned. This was the first time anyone had ever put shoes on her.

Watching his careful movements, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you doing this?”

Wasn’t he always bullying her? Why was he suddenly being so kind?

If this was a scheme, then Li Yuxi was certainly going all in.

That proud man, kneeling before her now.

For a moment, Chu Bing couldn’t make sense of her feelings. As soon as Li Yuxi announced he was finished, she stood up and hobbled hurriedly toward the exit.

Li Yuxi watched her near-fleeing figure, shaking his head with a quiet chuckle. “Slow down, don’t fall.”

Chu Bing stumbled at his words and nearly did fall.

Fuming, she turned back, only to find that the culprit had already vanished—as suddenly as he had appeared.

Chu Bing stared at the empty tent, lips pressed tightly together.

The system that witnessed everything gave a nervous gulp. “Host, you’re not falling for Li Yuxi, are you?”

Chu Bing immediately shook her head, as if her tail had been stepped on. “Nonsense! How could I fall for that guy? I’m not a masochist!”

She huffed, suppressing the strange feelings in her heart.

She would not forget how he had tormented her in the past, no matter how gentle he acted now.

Touching her not-yet-healed neck, Chu Bing’s expression grew resolute.
