Qi discerned some information from the conversation: the mid-stage Core Formation has a combat power of over two thousand, late-stage over three thousand, and Nascent Soul jumps directly to above ten thousand. "So, are you in the late stage of Foundation Establishment?" Qi asked thoughtfully.

Su Di raised an eyebrow, narrowed his eyes, and stared at Qi for a long moment before smiling meaningfully. "I'm in the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment."

Qi nodded without further comment, his expression unchanged as he gazed downward. Su Di likewise shifted his gaze, though his flickering eyes betrayed unknown thoughts.

"Tell me your reasons for appearing here. If I'm not satisfied..." With a wave of Shui Wuyuebai's hand, three Core Formation demonic cultivators, battered like dead dogs, were brought before him.

"It was Lord Silver Corpse attacking the branch of the Qi Qi Sect. He ordered us to patrol the area and capture any disciples venturing out alone," the elder in green robes replied, his face pale, blood soaking his chest, his voice weak.

"Yes, we heard that Lord Silver Corpse's old rival, Real Dragon, had been hiding in the Qi Qi Sect's branch. So he brought us here to make trouble for Real Dragon," the elder in red robes echoed in a low voice.

"The branch is already embroiled in battle. The mountain-protecting formation has been breached, and the two factions are slaughtering each other," the black-hearted demon added. Though he seemed slightly better off than the other two, he was hardly in good shape.

"Uncle Bai, what should we do? Should we go to their aid?" Su Di's face changed slightly as he looked to Shui Wuyuebai for direction.

"You, as a Foundation Establishment cultivator, can't help much. And remember, their words are only one side of the story. If I'm not mistaken, it's not just the branch that's under attack—cultivators of the demonic sect are slaughtering people throughout the entire territory of Qi. The current sect master of the demonic sect is ambitious. If he succeeds, it will be a disaster sweeping across the entire Southern Region."

Shui Wuyuebai's face darkened. She was one of the rare kind souls in the cultivation world, saddened by her inability to prevent the massacre of mortals. But now was not the time for sorrow; she had to make a decision.

"I want to return to my village. I don't want to see my hometown reduced to ruins when I come back," Qi said, frowning as he stepped forward. He mostly feared that the grave of Grandfather Qi, who had adopted him, would be destroyed, leaving nowhere for the old man to rest.

"Mas... Master, is my royal father also under attack? Can you save him and my mother?" Princess Snow White asked, her face pale and voice pleading.

After glancing at Qi's expression and then at her disciple's desperate look, Shui Wuyuebai finally addressed Su Di, "Nephew Su, return to the Qi Qi Sect headquarters and inform your master about what's happening here. Have the sect send reinforcements. I just tried, but the messaging spell is blocked. Try again once you leave the territory of Qi, but beware—you may encounter interception on the way. Take this for protection."

"Yes," Su Di responded grimly, accepting the cold snowflake talisman. He shot off in a streak of light, vanishing into the horizon in a few breaths.

Shui Wuyuebai then turned to Qi. "Fellow Daoist Qi wishes to protect his homeland; I have nothing to say against that. If you encounter an enemy you cannot defeat, do not linger in battle—preserve your life so you may avenge them later. If you don't find me within ten days, go to the Qi Qi Sect in the Southern Region. If I return first, I'll leave word for you. If anything happens, I believe your talent and strength will easily pass the entrance test."

Qi nodded, but suddenly seemed to recall something. His face changed as he turned fiercely to the three battered cultivators, his gaze sharp as he demanded, "Have you seen a village nearby?" The Qi Dian Village wasn't far from here. Back then, Qi had been chased by an ordinary mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, and though it felt far, to these Core Formation cultivators, it was nothing.

"Heh, just a mere Foundation Establishment cultivator, hiding your strength and trying to act tough," the red-robed demon sneered at Qi, then cackled, "Are you talking about that oddly named Qi Dian Village? I scanned it with my spiritual sense, found nothing special, so I wiped out the whole place. There wasn't even a single beauty worth noticing—such a shabby place. Hehehehe."

Qi kicked him squarely in his lewd face, sending him tumbling into the pit. The move was so sudden, not only did the three demons fail to anticipate it, even Shui Wuyuebai was caught off guard.

"You brat, don't give me a chance! Otherwise, I'll make sure you die a miserable death!" The red-robed demon's furious roar echoed from the depths of the pit.

Qi turned to Shui Wuyuebai and bowed. "Senior Bai, may I deal with these three myself? I wish to avenge my village."

Shui Wuyuebai frowned. "I can hand them over to you, but your village no longer exists. You can come with us. When the time comes, you can accompany Xue'er to guard the royal palace of Qi, and I can go to the rescue without worries."

"No, I want to go to the village. If I don't bury them soon, the wild beasts will drag away their bodies," Qi said, his eyes sorrowful and his voice choked.

"Ah, so be it. I'll take Xue'er away now. Their golden cores have been sealed by me. After you've had your vengeance, it's best to hide. There are many Foundation Establishment and Core Formation demonic cultivators roaming Qi—if you run into them, you're in danger." Shui Wuyuebai no longer lingered, preparing to leave with Snow White.

Snow White cast one last, complex glance at Qi, saying nothing.

"Bai, you're no longer a tool. In this life, live happily." Qi spoke these words in Japanese, only as Shui Wuyuebai transformed into a streak of light and departed. It wasn't for any particular reason—just a surge of feeling, remembering someone with the same name, a tragic figure.

And in the instant Qi wasn't paying attention, that distant streak in the sky seemed to tremble, or perhaps it was merely brushed by the wind.

"You brat, if you dare kill us, you'll never escape. Any enemy who kills Core Formation cultivators will be recorded and hunted by the demonic sect. You're just a Foundation Establishment cultivator—you'll never get out alive. The smartest thing to do is let us go. We can forgive your mistake..." The green-robed demon glared coldly at the dazed Qi, his icy gaze oppressive, as if to intimidate him from acting.

"Enough," Qi replied, slapping him without warning and sending him flying into the pit as well. Qi's face was grim—not particularly saddened by the massacre of his village, but concerned only for Grandfather Qi's grave.

(Three chapters at noon, two more below, two more tonight. Brothers, it's the last two days of the week. I've burned myself out—let me go out in a blaze!)
