Chapter 104: The Return of the Weakened Version of the Railgun
The moment Najetian finished speaking, both of them moved simultaneously. Main quickly raised her weapon to aim, while Qi leisurely concentrated, forming bone daggers.
Before Main could fire, Qi suddenly threw his daggers. At almost the same instant, Main pressed the trigger. In the blink of an eye, the outcome was decided. The bone dagger transformed into a blazing meteor; before the energy beam behind it could catch up, only a tiny fragment the size of a fingernail remained, which instantly shredded a leaf. The gust it created shook the branches, which were then directly vaporized by the following energy beam.
"How is that possible?" Main exclaimed, unable to believe that one person could throw something over a kilometer away with pinpoint accuracy, all without harming innocents nearby. The burning bone shard and the wind it stirred were precisely hit by the energy beam that arrived shortly after. If all this was part of the boy’s calculation, he was truly terrifying.
"Fair bet, fair loss. From now on, all my clothes are yours to wash," Qi smiled victoriously.
"There was never such a bet, and the contest isn’t over yet," Main retorted, unconvinced. "This time, let’s see whose long-range power is greater. The big tree over there will be our target. We each take one shot; whoever’s attack is stronger wins."
"Hmph, my clothes?"
"Hmph, if you win again, I’ll wash the clothes," Main said frankly.
"You’re quick to make promises. Fine, then who shoots first? Hmm, you go ahead. As a man, I can’t shoot first—I might be turning bad. Cough, cough. If I attack first, you won’t even have a chance."
"You’re still so arrogant. Hmph. Then I have one request: make your attack or exert your aura in a way that gives me a sense of danger. Only then can I deliver my strongest strike."
"Uh, are you sure it’s okay to ask your opponent to help you reach your peak state?" Qi muttered sarcastically. "Fine, I’ll make sure you lose convincingly."
Main and the watching crowd immediately felt a tremendous aura rising from the boy’s body. It was as if a super-dangerous beast had appeared. Then the aura shifted, turning cold and grim with murderous intent, like the beast baring its fangs, ready to attack.
Main’s sense of crisis soared to an unprecedented extreme. Her gun instinctively aimed at Qi. If she hadn’t regained control of her emotions, that strongest strike might have vaporized her companion on the spot.
"Hey, are you shooting or not? I’m staring at you with great effort," Qi said, gently pushing aside the romantic cannon aimed at him.
---
"Hmph, I thought you were really going to kill me. That danger was enough. Watch this," Main said smoothly as she set up, aimed, and fired.
A dazzling beam, three feet in diameter, shot out from the romantic cannon. Since it wasn’t solid, the beam stretched straight for 1,500 meters, striking the thick tree trunk.
The tree trunk, less than two feet in diameter, instantly vaporized. The tree began to tilt and fall, and behind it, a trench more than ten meters long was gouged out, with smoke still rising.
The rumbling sound of the falling tree and breaking stones reached the crowd four seconds later, muffled but sweet to Main’s ears. She smiled pale but proud. "How about that? Can you still boast you can beat a shooting prodigy like me?"
"First, the power of the shot is thanks to my cooperation and the romantic cannon’s support. You just aimed and pulled the trigger; that doesn’t make you a genius. Second, although your attack was strong... I also have a trump card."
"Then let’s see it, your trump card."
"As you wish. Now, obediently go wash my clothes," Qi said, pointing to the fourth mountain ahead. "See that? There’s the biggest tree, over 4,000 meters away."
"You’re going to target that?" Main’s eyes widened again. At such a distance, even she lacked confidence in hitting the target accurately, especially since she couldn’t see the big tree clearly through the romantic cannon.
"This move I secretly learned. It looked incredibly cool. With my current strength, even if I can’t reach her level, beating you is more than enough. I think it’s called the... Sky-Piercing Ground-Severing Super Electromagnetic Cannon."
A fist-sized unknown metal piece was lightly tossed up. Under the blinding blue-white lightning punch, the orange-red beam was three times more powerful than Main’s previous energy beam. It truly pierced through heaven and earth, hitting the tree trunk in a breath’s time. The impact on the ground also raised a huge cloud of dust.
"So? Got anything to say?" Qi grinned triumphantly at the stunned Main.
"How... how did you do that? Even with your strength, it shouldn’t be possible to throw a fist-sized metal piece at such speed. And just now, I saw you controlling lightning like Budd," Main said despondently, lowering her head.
The outcome was clear at a glance—whether in range, power, or control, she was completely defeated.
"Ha ha ha, I told you I’m versatile, yet you didn’t believe me. When I fought Budd, didn’t I also use lightning to distort or deflect his? Although I can use lightning, my power still isn’t a match for his," Qi shrugged.
---
"Anyone else? Come fight if you’re not convinced," Qi said, brimming with confidence.
"Well, although I hate to admit it, I’ve lost confidence for now. I’ll challenge you again once my skills improve," Labuck sighed, shrugging.
"Then let’s have a shooting contest," Brandt stepped forward, eager and smiling.
...
"Weren’t we supposed to duel one-on-one?" Qi said urgently on the open plain.
"This is at your request, to help you adapt to your newly enhanced power," Najetian said beside him.
"But... you didn’t have to send the entire night raid team, that’s too much. Look—Sil’s cheongsam has several slashes now."
"Main and I have already made moves; Sil shouldn’t mind," Qi said.
"Doesn’t mind," Sil coldly cut again, merciless as ever.
"You’ve been aiming below on purpose, haven’t you? Fine, I’ll have to use my secret move: Eight-Armed Divine Skill."
Despite the triple-strength power allowing Qi to fight longer, he was still suppressed by six attackers.
