Volume Two - The Map of Nine Provinces Appears, Entering the Spiritual Ruins Chapter 83: The Chaos of Forgetting Sorrow
Things rarely go as one wishes.
After dealing with Du Yu, Chen Yu had intended to leave the Forest of Forgetting Worries immediately, but to his dismay, the sounds of their battle had attracted the attention of a horde of monsters.
Chen Yu had no desire to become entangled with them and instantly employed the Golden Light Earth Technique to escape. Yet the beasts were ferocious, chasing after him together.
“Damn it!” Chen Yu cursed inwardly. “It seems it’s best to deal with them first.”
His heart sank, and he halted, turning to draw his sword in one fluid motion.
The three monsters pursuing him, seeing Chen Yu stop, grew even more bloodthirsty and frenzied, charging at him.
“Hmph, courting death!” Chen Yu growled. “Subdue Dragons and Tame Tigers—Righteous Sword Qi!”
The heavy force of his sword cleaved forth, and after a fierce clash, Chen Yu was forced back several steps, while the three monsters retreated two. Though their bodies bore no wounds, the weight of his sword left them in considerable pain.
The three monsters circled Chen Yu, stamping their feet, growling low, seeking a chance to kill. But Chen Yu would give them none. As soon as his breath steadied, his eyes cold, he rushed toward the boar demon.
With Golden Light Earth Technique, he closed the distance in an instant.
“Subdue Dragons and Tame Tigers,” he intoned, stabbing his sword straight into the boar demon’s neck, catching it off guard.
The boar demon shrieked miserably, blood spraying wildly, its body rolling on the ground in agony.
The other two monsters were stunned by Chen Yu’s sudden assault. Yet the boar demon’s blood drove them to greater frenzy, roaring as they chased Chen Yu, who darted away into the distance—crashing through countless trees as they pursued.
“Damn it, if this chaos continues, I can forget about escaping the Forest of Forgetting Worries,” Chen Yu thought darkly. “Since you insist on tangling with me, I’ll give you a proper fight.”
Chen Yu produced four beans, scattering them upon the ground. The world’s spiritual energy gathered, the beans sprouted and grew, transforming in moments into four figures identical to Chen Yu.
Kill—The four Chen Yus immediately attacked the two monsters, sword winds raging, sweeping over the beasts. Chen Yu’s true form did not retreat but waited for the opportune moment to subdue the monsters.
The goat demon and deer demon cried out together, clashing with the four Chen Yus. Both monsters possessed the power of six breaths in their dantian, and though the four Chen Yus were merely bean soldiers and not true match for the beasts, they were enough to hold them at bay.
Frustrated at their inability to kill their foes, the two monsters’ fury soared and they charged with renewed anger. In a flash, two bean soldiers were destroyed, reverting to their original form.
The monsters grew more arrogant, each charging at the remaining bean soldiers.

Smack—One bean soldier was smashed by the goat demon.
But the other was different; instead, the deer demon let out a howl of unwillingness, its head severed by Chen Yu’s true form.
Before the goat demon could celebrate, Chen Yu and the last bean soldier had already encircled it.
“It’s your turn,” Chen Yu said coldly. “Wind and Rain Sword Qi.”
Dozens of sword energies shot toward the goat demon. Panicked, it tried to flee.
“You can’t escape,” Chen Yu’s gaze was icy, his intent to kill resolute. He used Golden Light Earth Technique to close in swiftly. “Die—Subdue Dragons and Tame Tigers!”
The powerful sword struck the goat demon’s back, breaking its limbs and even snapping its spine. Blood spurted from its mouth as it collapsed in terror.
Chen Yu recalled the bean soldiers and considered whether these three monsters had formed monster cores, but found only disappointment. As for dealing with their flesh, he had a Heaven Bottle Talisman at hand, but their meat wasn’t worth expending such a treasure.
Without hesitation, Chen Yu sped toward the edge of the Forest of Forgetting Worries.
Only then did he realize the situation within the forest was far more complicated than he’d imagined. Along the way, he encountered several groups, but fortunately noticed them in advance and avoided trouble.
“I must leave quickly; the Forest of Forgetting Worries is far from peaceful now,” Chen Yu thought, doing his utmost to conceal his presence, running cautiously.
He had not gone far when suddenly he heard cries of alarm.
Chen Yu’s eyes narrowed. “Could it be disciples of Spirit Ruins in trouble?”
Such a notion was not surprising, as this place was closest to Spirit Ruins, a training ground for low-level disciples.
After some thought, Chen Yu decided that, as fellow disciples of the sect, if they were in danger, he would lend a hand.
He crept forward carefully and soon saw both sides of the battle.
“What a coincidence—it’s them.”
The two monsters were the ice-ringed serpent demons from Cold Moon Pool. The three disciples were two women and one man, one of whom was Wu Yi, whom he’d met during the Dragon Carp Peak outer sect trial.

“Junior Sister Wu, hurry back to the sect—we’ll hold off these two monsters,” one woman shouted desperately.
“Junior Sister, leave now. We can manage,” the man called loudly. “Monsters, prepare to die!”
“Senior Sister… Senior Brother…” The girl hesitated, unwilling to leave, but knowing she could do nothing to help. She bit her lip and was about to depart when suddenly a golden light shot forth, piercing toward one of the ice-ringed serpent demons.
Sensing the danger, the serpent demon twisted aside. The two Spirit Ruins disciples, seeing help arrive, were overjoyed. After driving the other serpent demon back, they said, “Senior Brother, these serpent demons are strong—let’s join forces to slay them.”
With the situation critical, Chen Yu didn’t hesitate. “Very well—this one is mine, you handle the other.”
“Senior Brother…” The male disciple tried to protest, but Chen Yu had already charged ahead. Helpless, he could only shout, “Kill!”
The two ice-ringed serpent demons, recognizing Chen Yu, grew furious, roaring as they lunged at him.
“Courting death!” Chen Yu sensed their hatred and showed no mercy.
Wind and Rain Sword Qi surged, dozens of sword energies striking the serpent demons, forcing them to howl in pain.
“Excellent!” The two Spirit Ruins disciples followed closely, excitedly shouting as they attacked one serpent demon. Wu Yi, who had intended to leave, now promptly joined the fight.
The battle erupted instantly. Alone, Chen Yu faced the serpent demon without falling behind. His killing moves were relentless, his Golden Light Earth Technique swift, making him untouchable.
“Subdue Dragons and Tame Tigers.” Chen Yu seized an opportunity, striking the serpent demon right at its vital point. The serpent convulsed and collapsed.
Without hesitation, Chen Yu swung his sword, severing its head.
With the death of one serpent demon, the other mourned loudly, forsaking resistance to madly rush to its fallen companion.
Chen Yu frowned, sensing the serpent demon’s grief and its resolve for death.
Wu Yi and the others showed no mercy; their blades fell, ending its life.
