Chen Yu and his group rode swiftly on horseback, even abandoning the carriage of Princess Muyang. As Chen Yu had predicted, their sudden acceleration caught the enemy off guard, preventing an immediate response. However, the pursuers did not relent; instead, they ceased stealth tactics and launched a direct, open assault.
Lu Jie and the others harbored many complaints, blaming Chen Yu for leading them into danger. Princess Muyang and Hong Dong’s expressions also changed drastically—not with blame toward Chen Yu, but with shock at the enemy’s ferocity. Had Chen Yu not abruptly changed course, catching their foes unprepared, they might never have sensed the peril looming.
Princess Muyang bitterly thought to herself: it truly seems some do not wish for me to return to the capital of the Great Qing Kingdom. A flicker of murderous resentment involuntarily flashed in her eyes.
“Are we still going forward? That’s Demon Wind Ridge ahead,” Su Han asked coldly.
Before Chen Yu could answer, Princess Muyang impatiently cut in, mercilessly declaring, “I said, everything is entrusted to Junior Brother Chen Yu. If you have objections, leave immediately. Otherwise, silence.”
Su Han was taken aback; he had never seen the usually gentle princess so irritable and was unsure whether to argue. But one thing was clear: there were pursuers behind them. To fall behind now would spell true danger. Though they were not the target, the enemy would never tolerate news of their escape spreading.
“Attention, enemy ambush ahead,” Chen Yu said sternly. “Hong Dong, you three form groups of three, split into four teams, and seize the moment to ignite Flame-Spitting Talismans to clear the way.”
“Understood.”
While Lu Jie and the others were still thinking, “You’re just blocking our escape route! How are we supposed to run now?” Chen Yu continued, addressing Wu Yi and the others: “After I strike with my sword, immediately use Wind-Borrowing Talismans to disperse the flames.”
“Yes, understood,” Wu Yi and Wen Ye responded tensely.
“Remember, we are retreating, not seeking battle. Anyone left behind does so at their own peril,” Chen Yu’s words were clearly aimed at Su Han and the others.
Su Han and Lu Jie exchanged glances, gritting their teeth, unwilling to speak further.
Before Chen Yu and his group arrived, the enemy had already abandoned concealment and charged.

“Princess Muyang, we’ve been waiting for you a long time,” the enemy howled wildly.
“Attack!” At Chen Yu’s shout, Hong Dong and the others activated their Flame-Spitting Talismans. Fire serpents surged forth, startling the arrogant foes, whose faces immediately paled as they shouted a warning, “Watch out, scatter!”
The enemies who veered aside did not expect Princess Muyang and her group not only to keep moving but to accelerate straight into the flames.
Chen Yu, mounted on his horse, gathered the primal energy of heaven and earth in his hand, coldly slashing through the fire. “Wind, bloom in an instant, slash!”
With the stroke of his sword, the flames parted. Wu Yi and the others, prepared in advance, used Wind-Borrowing Talismans to blow the fire aside, the wind fueling the blaze into a roaring inferno.
The enemies who had just dodged were instantly engulfed by the flames, their screams ceaseless. Some were burned to ashes as their bodies were consumed by fire.
“Enter Demon Wind Ridge,” Chen Yu urged, sensing hesitation.
Those wavering briefly hesitated but ultimately suppressed their unease.
Though they had broken the enemy’s encirclement, there was little joy. They were entering Demon Wind Ridge, a deadly place for ordinary cultivators.
“What now? Are we really going into Demon Wind Ridge?” Lu Jie and the others shivered in the gloomy, fetid air.
Chen Yu’s response struck their hearts: “Not just entering, but crossing through Demon Wind Ridge.”
Su Han and the others shouted, “Are you mad?”
Even Princess Muyang frowned deeply.
“In the current situation, even if we break the enemy’s encirclement, they will catch up eventually. Only by harnessing the danger of Demon Wind Ridge can we break the siege.”
“Mr. Chen intends to use the peril of Demon Wind Ridge to annihilate the enemy,” Hong Dong realized.
“Exactly... After all the beatings, running is not my wish,” Chen Yu said again. “The road ahead is dangerous. If anyone is unwilling to follow, leave now. You still have ten breaths’ time to decide.”
“You...” Su Han and the others were furious. Had they known, they would have left with Zhu Gui and the others.
They argued back and forth, unable to decide quickly. But Chen Yu gave no extra time; when the ten breaths passed, he ordered the departure.

Watching Princess Muyang and the others leave, Su Han and the rest were filled with resentment.
“Let’s go! Maybe he really has a plan,” Lu Jie said gravely.
Soon after entering Demon Wind Ridge, Chen Yu’s group encountered a ferocious beast. Its fur bristled wildly, and it was violently aggressive, seeming to know nothing but slaughter.
However, the beast was alone and not very strong. Hong Dong and his companions easily dispatched it. Chen Yu instructed them to leave some traces and move on.
The deeper they went into Demon Wind Ridge, the more demons and monsters they faced, but the group overcame them all. Though some were injured, none seriously.
“Stop cleaning up and leave immediately,” Chen Yu suddenly commanded, halting the excited group.
“Why? After all that effort, we’re leaving empty-handed?” Su Han and the others protested. Thanks to Chen Yu’s leadership, they had survived unscathed, and giving up the spoils was hard to accept.
“The enemy will arrive soon. Leave now!” Chen Yu said without hesitation.
With that, he led Princess Muyang and the others away. Su Han, Jia Wan, and Lu Jie were unwilling to let go. Looking at the corpses of several first-stage beasts, they bit their lips and began to extract the demon cores, which would not take much time.
As the three hurriedly harvested the cores, the enemy caught up. The seven pursuers appeared disheveled, clearly having suffered attacks from beasts.
Seeing Lu Jie and the others, their rage exploded.
“Haha... finally found you! Run... run... let’s see where you can escape now...”
“Danger... run!” Lu Jie and the others’ faces changed drastically. Alarmed, they fled without hesitation.
At that moment, the seven launched their assault, slashing with sword winds. Lu Jie was careless, a wound slashed across his back, blood spraying as he was knocked flying.
“Beg me...” Lu Jie cried out.
But Su Han and Jia Wan, seeing the enemy’s ferocity, dared not stay and abandoned Lu Jie as they fled.
