Upon hearing this, Princess Muyang immediately understood that Chen Yu might have the ability to resolve their current predicament. Yet, she only cast a deep glance and did not press further, fully aware of Chen Yu’s reservations.
Nonetheless, Princess Muyang heeded Chen Yu’s advice and altered their route.
At first, others did not quite understand, but since they encountered no danger along the way, they gradually felt more at ease. After several days, their group indeed managed to safely bypass the Xuan Kong Sect.
However, before they could celebrate or relax for long, Chen Yu’s worries proved warranted once more—they were targeted by enemies again. This time, the opponents no longer merely spied on them but directly attacked.
“Who dares block our path?” Feng Qing coldly addressed the dozen or so masked figures barring their way.
“Do you even know who we are?” Guo Ming sneered. “Are you trying to make an enemy of Lingxu?”
Chen Yu cursed inwardly: truly fools! The enemy had clearly come to kill, yet they still talked big.
“Kill them all, leave not one alive!” the masked leader commanded sternly.
Instead of confronting Zhu Gui and the others head-on, the enemy concealed themselves behind yellow talismans and unleashed hidden weapons. In an instant, fiery serpents soared with the fierce wind, sand and stones flew, and thunder roared.
Though Zhu Gui and his group acted arrogantly, their strength was no less formidable. They countered with the same yellow talismans, holding their ground against the assault.
Similarly, Princess Muyang’s subordinates performed admirably, forming human formations to meet the attack head-on.
“Kill…” Their fierce cries broke the enemy’s momentum one by one.
Chen Yu refrained from joining the battle, instead analyzing the enemy’s disposition in secret.
Back in the Chen Kingdom, despite his remarkable cultivation, Chen Yu often relied on strategy over brute force, accustomed to planning ahead during campaigns.
Observing the enemy’s positioning, he knew they held the advantageous terrain. In the past, breaking such a deadlock would have been difficult, but here in Jiuzhou, where cultivators’ abilities dominate, the situation was different. While not divine power, these skills were not to be underestimated.
“Damn it, these bastards have taken the high ground, putting us at a severe disadvantage,” Wen Ye said bitterly. “The path ahead is blocked by a wall of fire—we can only retreat, right?”
Hearing this, Chen Yu smiled faintly. “Not necessarily. Is this the only route?”
“Oh… Senior Brother Chen Yu, do you have a plan?” Wen Ye asked curiously.
“Yes. We just need to switch from defense to offense.”

Wen Ye twitched his mouth. “Easier said than done. But do we even have the means?”
“I recall a flock of white cranes resting by a nearby stream. If we can harness their power, it might be possible.”
“That’s true, but how could they possibly obey you?”
“Right, we can use the Bird Taming Talismans,” Wu Yi and Yuan Xiao quickly chimed in.
“The enemy’s strength isn’t overwhelming. A surprise strike could neutralize the danger,” Chen Yu added.
“But… I don’t have any Bird Taming Talismans,” Wen Ye admitted awkwardly.
“I do,” said both Wu Yi and Yuan Xiao.
“I have some too,” Chen Yu smiled. “Let’s go together.”
“Of course,” Wen Ye immediately produced a Bird Taming Talisman.
Before leaving, Chen Yu briefly informed Hong Dong to maintain a feint to distract the enemy.
Hong Dong understood immediately and agreed with enthusiasm.
Soon, the four arrived at the white cranes’ habitat. After explaining the plan, Chen Yu carefully approached.
The white cranes were quite tame and easy to control. Although the talismans’ power couldn’t last long, the distance was sufficient.
Each of the four mounted a white crane, soaring toward the nearby peak.
“Damn… these scoundrels are cunning to use the terrain to stall us for so long,” Zhu Gui grumbled. “Hong Dong, do you have a way to break through their defenses? Otherwise, we must retreat for now. Once their reinforcements arrive, our situation will worsen.”
“Rest assured, Mr. Zhu. If we hold on a little longer, things will turn in our favor,” Hong Dong said without elaboration. Since it concerned Chen Yu, and sensing Zhu Gui’s displeasure with him, he chose to remain silent.
Sure enough, just as Zhu Gui lost patience, the figures of Chen Yu and his companions vanished, prompting Zhu Gui to shout in anger, “Damn it, where is that Chen Yu?”
“They just left,” Feng Qing replied.
“Left? Feng junior brother, why didn’t you say so earlier? He might be a spy planted among us!” Zhu Gui yelled furiously. “How could you be so foolish?”
Feng Qing’s face flushed red as he explained, “I… I saw him greet Hong Dong, so I thought…”
“Idiot! Do you think Hong Dong can’t be deceived?” Zhu Gui cursed. Then he turned to Hong Dong, demanding, “What’s really going on? I need an explanation. If there’s a plot here, I won’t stand for it.”
Hong Dong’s expression darkened but he replied firmly, “Mr. Zhu, please be patient. All will be revealed soon.”
“What soon…” Before Zhu Gui could respond, a sudden blaze erupted atop the mountain like heavenly fire descending. Fierce winds fanned the flames.
The enemy on the peak never expected such a move, thrown into chaos with desperate screams.
From below, Hong Dong shouted joyfully, “Use the Wind Talismans, blow east…”
His subordinates wasted no time, activating wind talismans on one side of the mountain. Two wind dragons formed, converging into a tornado that swept the entire peak. The raging fire became a spiraling inferno.
The dozen or so enemies on the summit were consumed by the fiery vortex. Even if they survived, they were powerless to resist.
When Hong Dong, Zhu Gui, and the others ascended the peak, Chen Yu and his three companions had already cleared the battlefield. Wu Yi and the others wore smiles, indicating great success.
“Thank you, Mr. Chen, for your counsel and aid,” Hong Dong said sincerely.
“No thanks needed. It was my duty,” Chen Yu replied with a smile. “We should leave quickly. The enemy’s reinforcements will soon arrive.”
Hong Dong nodded silently, fully agreeing.
Seeing Chen Yu’s satisfied expression and recalling his own earlier words, Zhu Gui finally felt like a fool and couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Wait…”
Hong Dong and Chen Yu frowned and looked over.
“You took the treasures from these men, didn’t you?” Zhu Gui directly accused.
