Before Cheng Cheng appeared a Gastly and a Litwick.

“Spirit!”

Suddenly, four Candlelight Spirits gathered their energy, launching four Shadow Balls.

“Gardevoir!”

A Gardevoir appeared in front of Cheng Cheng, using Protect to block the attack.

“Gardevoir!”

Gardevoir retaliated with Shadow Ball, directing it toward the four Candlelight Spirits. The Litwick and Gastly also used Protect to shield themselves.

Cheng Cheng noticed that Muzi’s condition was worsening and realized he had to end this battle quickly.

“I’m counting on you, Slowpoke.”

Ghost-type Pokémon have a strong advantage over Cheng Cheng’s Psychic-type Pokémon, but since they also possess Fire attributes, Slowpoke could still counter them effectively.

“Slowpoke, use Water Pulse.”

The Water Pulse surged forward; the Litwick and Gastly immediately dodged, but several Candlelight Spirits were hit and collapsed to the ground.

“Ghost!”

Gastly used Will-O-Wisp, but it was extinguished by Slowpoke’s Water Pulse. The Water Pulse came again, Gastly dodged, but was hit by Gardevoir’s Shadow Ball.

“Litwick!”

The Litwick, seeing its companions defeated, grew furious. Suddenly, a terrifying aura spread around. Litwick used Intimidate, and its range was vast, causing Cheng Cheng and the Pokémon to feel fear.

“Chimecho, use Confusion.”

Chimecho’s Confusion negated the effects of Intimidate, and everyone returned to normal.

“Slowpoke, use Water Pulse.”

Slowpoke’s Water Pulse struck the Litwick, sending it crashing against the wall.

“Continue with consecutive Water Pulses.”

Slowpoke kept the pressure up with Water Pulse, hitting Gastly, Litwick, and the four Candlelight Spirits against the wall. Soon, several Pokémon lost their ability to fight.

“Go, Poké Balls.”

Although they had defeated them, Cheng Cheng decided to capture all of them to prevent them from harming others in the future. He then handed them over to the system.

Six Poké Balls were thrown simultaneously, capturing the six Pokémon. The Poké Balls shook twice and then fell silent—each Pokémon was successfully caught.

Suddenly, the surroundings changed. The previously exquisite house became dilapidated, looking abandoned for a long time. Everything they had seen before was an illusion created by the Pokémon.

With the Pokémon issue resolved, it was time to quickly treat Muzi. Cheng Cheng took a Green Leaf Fruit from his bag—a fruit that cures all abnormal conditions. Since Muzi’s condition was caused by the Pokémon, it was likely she was suffering from some abnormal state.

Cheng Cheng took out a bowl, chopped the Green Leaf Fruit finely, then mashed it into juice, feeding it to Muzi bit by bit. Her face remained pale. Cheng Cheng then took out a Blue Orange, which restores stamina, hoping it would help her recover. He prepared the juice similarly and fed it to Muzi. After drinking the Blue Orange juice, Muzi looked much better. Before long, she woke up.

“Cheng Cheng, where are we?”

“This is the villa we stayed in earlier. Everything you saw before was an illusion created by Litwick. Now this is the real place.”

“What about Litwick and the Candlelight Spirits?”

“I’ve captured them all. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of them, and they won’t cause trouble anymore.”

“That’s good.”

“Cheng Cheng, I feel a bit sleepy. I want to rest.”

“Alright, go ahead. I’ll stay here with you.”

Cheng Cheng held Muzi in his arms, leaning against the wall. Soon, Muzi fell asleep.

He asked Gardevoir to fetch a blanket from the bag and covered Muzi. The two of them fell asleep together in this humble room.

Early the next morning, Cheng Cheng woke to see Muzi lying on him, still asleep. Not wanting to disturb her, he waited quietly. After another hour, Muzi finally woke.

“Muzi, how do you feel?”

“Okay, just a little hungry.”

“I’ll prepare breakfast for you.”

“Thank you, Cheng Cheng.”

“No need.”

Cheng Cheng set up a simple stove nearby and made some basic food, along with a cup of Blue Orange juice to help restore her energy.

He handed the food to Muzi, who began eating.

“What about you, Cheng Cheng?”

“I’ll eat later. You go ahead.”

Muzi brought the spoon to Cheng Cheng’s mouth. He glanced at it and ate the food.

Muzi smiled, holding the spoon in her mouth, then continued eating. As she ate, she fed some to Cheng Cheng. They both enjoyed the meal happily.

Meanwhile, the Pokémon nearby growled with hunger but dared not disturb them. They rummaged through Cheng Cheng’s bag to find some tree fruits and ate quietly.

“Poor things,” Cheng Cheng thought.

By afternoon, Muzi had mostly recovered. Cheng Cheng and Muzi left the shabby villa and set off toward Feiyun City.

After a day’s journey, they arrived at Feiyun City. They didn’t rush to challenge the Feiyun Gym but settled in among the Pokémon.

As usual, Cheng Cheng researched the Feiyun Gym. This time, Muzi shared the information with him.

The Gym Leader of Feiyun Gym was Mr. Arty. Interestingly, his Pokémon were not Flying-type but Bug-type. Although Bug-type Pokémon are often considered weak, Cheng Cheng knew that with proper training, they could be formidable.

Bug-type Pokémon are vulnerable to Flying and Fire types. Moreover, most Bug-type Pokémon also have Poison attributes, which was advantageous for Cheng Cheng.

“Great, then let’s go challenge the Feiyun Gym.”

After reading the gym information, Muzi was excited and ready to take on the challenge.

That afternoon, Cheng Cheng and Muzi arrived at the Feiyun Gym and registered for battle. They would fight separately, one after the other.

“Ladies first. You go ahead.”

“No problem. I’d like to observe some more.”

“Then watch my splendid battle.”

Soon, they met Mr. Arty.

“You both want to challenge the gym? No problem. I can handle consecutive battles. So, who goes first?”

“I’ll go first.”

Muzi and Mr. Arty stepped onto the battlefield. The referee came forward.

“Each side may use three Pokémon. When all Pokémon on one side lose their ability to fight, the other side wins.”

“Please send out your Pokémon.”

“Your first Pokémon, go! Dwebble.”

Mr. Arty sent out Dwebble, a Rock and Bug-type Pokémon. It looked tough to deal with.

“Dwebble, huh? In that case, you’re up, Snoobear.”

Muzi sent out Snoobear, a recent capture. This was her first time using Snoobear in battle, so the outcome was uncertain. After some time together, Muzi had accepted Snoobear, but the bond between them was still distant. They needed to find a way to grow closer. No rush; Cheng Cheng believed they would get along well eventually.

“Prepare yourselves. The battle begins.”

“Snoobear, use Powder Snow.”

Snoobear sneezed, releasing a flurry of snowflakes that flew toward Dwebble.

“Dwebble, dodge!”

Dwebble quickly evaded the attack. Cheng Cheng hadn’t expected Dwebble to be so fast.

“Dwebble, use X-Scissor.”

“Snoobear, Powder Snow.”

The Powder Snow hit Dwebble, but Dwebble closed in and struck Snoobear.

“Snoobear, use Fury Swipes.”

“Dwebble, hide.”

Dwebble retreated into its shell. Fury Swipes hit the rock on its back.

“Dwebble, use Rock Blast.”

Dwebble gathered energy and launched a Rock Blast.

“Snoobear, use Brine.”

A jet of salty water blocked the Rock Blast and also hit Dwebble. This move was very effective.

“Use Icy Wind.”

A cold gust sprayed forth. Dwebble, soaked by the Brine, was quickly frozen.

“Final move, Slash.”

Slash struck Dwebble, which lost its ability to fight.

“Dwebble is unable to battle. The winner is Snoobear.”

“Impressive. Then let me show you my second Pokémon. Go, Whirlipede.”

Whirlipede, the evolved form of Venipede, is a Bug and Poison dual-type Pokémon, making it a tough opponent.

“Whirlipede, use Rollout.”

Whirlipede rolled swiftly toward Snoobear.

“Snoobear, use Slash.”

Slash hit Whirlipede, but its rolling didn’t stop; it knocked Snoobear flying.

“Snoobear is unable to battle. The winner is Whirlipede.”

“Come back, Snoobear. You did well. Now, your turn—go, Vibrava.”

Cheng Cheng expected Muzi to send out her veteran Pokémon but was surprised by a new one.

Vibrava, although labeled as a Bug-type, is actually Ground and Dragon-type. It is the evolved form of Trapinch and the devolved form of Flygon. Cheng Cheng checked Vibrava’s stats:

Vibrava

Type: Ground, Dragon

Level: 39

Rank: Deep Green

Rarity: Rare

Ability: Levitate

Moves: Supersonic, Sand Attack, Double Team, Sandstorm, Mud Slap, Endure, Dig, Earthquake, Supersonic, Roar, Dragon Breath, Earth Power.

Muzi’s Vibrava looked promising. Cheng Cheng wondered how it would perform in battle.

He was eager to study Vibrava’s fighting style since they would likely encounter it in future battles between him and Muzi. Learning its traits in advance was beneficial.

The battle continued.
