“Mayor Qin, he’s nothing but a fraud!” Wang Bowen persisted, refusing to yield.

Hearing this, Qin Tiannian barked in a deep voice, “Silence!”

The medical experts, including Dr. Wang, fell quiet at Mayor Qin’s anger, though their eyes burned with fury as they stared at Chen Xian. In their minds, Chen Xian was a vile impostor, someone whose actions might delay the treatment of the unconscious officers.

Ignoring the jeers from the white-coated doctors, Chen Xian turned to Mayor Qin. “Mayor, have your people transport all the unconscious officers back to Command Hall No. 1.”

“Understood.” Mayor Qin gave the order.

Soon, the deputy chief and more than a hundred unconscious officers were brought to Command Hall No. 1.

Chen Xian entered the hall, and Mayor Qin, Chief Zhou, the doctors, and other police officers all prepared to follow him.

“You should all wait outside,” Chen Xian said, waving them away. “I don’t like to be disturbed while I treat patients.”

“Charlatan!” Dr. Wang, who had wanted to follow Chen Xian in, scoffed.

Mayor Qin turned and shot Dr. Wang a glare, then said to Chen Xian, “Master Chen, we’ll do as you say!”

Chen Xian nodded and stepped into Command Hall No. 1. With a loud bang, the doors closed automatically.

On Mayor Qin and Chief Zhou’s orders, everyone else waited outside the hall. The two officials stood at the doorway, ears strained to catch any sounds from within.

Chen Xian surveyed the room. The deputy chief and officers sat with vacant expressions, as if struck by Medusa’s petrifying spell. He remembered the one-eyed crone, and the corner of his lips curled in a quiet smile as he mused to himself:

“This one-eyed old woman is quite cunning. After rescuing her accomplice, she didn’t flee outright, but instead came straight to police headquarters to sabotage the command system. She essentially knocked out the police’s brain, leaving their limbs uncoordinated.”

Her move was indeed clever, but unfortunately for her, she had run into Chen Xian and would meet a bitter end.

Chen Xian composed himself, closed his eyes, and parted his lips. In a booming voice, he shouted, “Awaken!”

His voice thundered like the heavens, a jolt as powerful as a sledgehammer, reverberating in the ears of every comatose officer within the hall.

Strangely, those outside Command Hall No. 1 heard nothing, not even a whisper, despite the force of the shout. Normally, such a loud voice would surely leak through the door’s cracks.

If anyone had watched closely, they would have seen ripples of light radiate from Chen Xian’s mouth, spreading out like waves across a pond.

As his words faded, the vacant look in the eyes of the deputy chief and officers vanished. Their reason returned, and they came back to life.

“Quick! Someone, seize the one-eyed monk!” Deputy Chief He shouted angrily, eyes wide.

Clearly, his memory was still fixed on the moment before he was ensnared by the one-eyed crone’s psychic spell.

The revived officers exchanged confused glances; none could find any trace of the one-eyed monk.

Seeing this, Chen Xian told Deputy Chief He, “No need to apprehend the one-eyed monk. He’s already been eliminated.”

With that, Chen Xian strode toward the hall’s exit.

“Who are you?” Deputy Chief He asked, curiosity piqued.

Without turning, Chen Xian replied, “I am Chen Xian.”

He opened the hall’s doors, stepped outside, and the doors closed automatically behind him.

“Master Chen, how did it go?” Mayor Qin hurriedly asked.

Because the doors had closed automatically, they hadn’t yet seen the situation inside the hall.

“They’ve fully recovered,” Chen Xian said coolly.

“Nonsense! You were in there less than a minute and claim to have cured over a hundred people?” a medical expert immediately challenged.

Dr. Wang sneered, “Young man, you’re boasting without a scrap of evidence!”

Chen Xian’s lips curled into a roguish smile. “If I’ve cured them, what will you doctors do?”

“We’ll publish a front-page apology in the H State Daily,” Dr. Wang said coldly. “But if you’re lying, we’ll take legal action against you for defaming doctors and science.”

Chen Xian shook his head, his smile faint. “Remember—tomorrow, H State Daily, front page, apology.”

Finishing his words, he willed a streak of red light to shoot from the alluring Fang Jing, racing toward Command Hall No. 2 and vanishing through the door’s crack.

Chen Xian himself walked away without looking back.

Creak!

At that moment, the doors to Command Hall No. 1 swung open, and a crowd surged out, led by Deputy Chief He.

Dr. Wang and the other doctors, who had been about to enter and verify Chen Xian’s claims, stared in astonishment as Deputy Chief He and the others emerged unharmed. Their eyes were wide with disbelief, mouths agape enough to fit an entire egg, shock written plainly on their faces.

Mayor Qin, Chief Zhou, and the others were equally stupefied.

They had heard Fang Jing describe the supernatural abilities of martial arts masters, but none had expected Master Chen to be so powerful: in less than a minute, he had revived over a hundred officers whom the medical experts had deemed untreatable!

For a moment, the scene was utterly silent, as if death had fallen.

Fang Jing was the first to recover. She turned to chase after Master Chen, but he had already passed through the doors, leaving only a final glimpse of his back before vanishing.

She stood transfixed, her beautiful eyes openly filled with admiration, like a devoted fan gazing at her idol.

She lifted her foot to pursue him, but something made her pause, and in the end, she did not take another step with her long, graceful legs.

“Mayor Qin, Chief Zhou, what is going on?” Deputy Chief He asked, puzzled as he stepped out of the hall.

Only then did the crowd snap out of their daze.

Mayor Qin, Chief Zhou, and the others didn’t answer Deputy Chief He. They all turned toward the doorway, but Master Chen was already gone.

Dr. Wang and the other doctors—faces flushed with shame—felt remorse for their earlier hostility.

“Fang Jing, can you reach Master Chen?” Mayor Qin asked. “We must thank him properly this time.”

Fang Jing nodded, immediately taking out her phone to call him, but the connection could not be established.

By then, Chen Xian was already seated in a taxi, eyes closed as he carefully read the information sent back by 001 from Command Hall No. 2.

He now knew the whereabouts of Li Xiong and the pack of mercenary wolves.

Now, Chen Xian was setting out to pursue them.
