Chapter 56: You Are My Peerless Hero
With Fang Jing’s consent, Chen Xian knelt before her, examining her wounds and preparing to detoxify them.
The policewoman’s body bore many injuries. Chen Xian reached out, gently touching a wound on her arm.
Fang Jing could not help but tremble, feeling as though a blade were piercing her flesh. Yet she was strong; she bit her lip and did not utter a single cry of pain.
“Officer Fang, bear with it,” Chen Xian said softly. Then, drawing upon a thread of spiritual energy from his spiritual wheel, he channeled it into the wound.
At once, a miraculous change took place: the blackened wound gradually lost its dark hue, returning to the color of healthy flesh. Soon, the wound looked normal again—the poison had been neutralized.
Even so, Chen Xian realized these toxins were not ordinary. He had thought that with a single thread of this special spiritual energy, he could both neutralize the poison and heal the wound. Yet the result was merely the removal of the toxin.
He drew forth another thread of spiritual energy and applied it to the wound. This time, the injury healed at a speed visible to the naked eye, as if by magic.
Fang Jing felt a tingling itch on her arm. Glancing down, she saw the transformation and her beautiful eyes widened in astonishment—the shock clear upon her face:
So this is the power of a grandmaster?
Truly otherworldly!
In less than two minutes, Chen Xian had restored the wound on her arm to its original state. No trace remained; her skin was smooth as ever.
He then moved to neutralize the poison in another of her wounds…
Twenty minutes passed. Most of Fang Jing’s injuries had been healed, and the toxins all but purged. Her exquisite face had regained its color, and she looked much more spirited.
However, two poisonous wounds remained, their locations rather delicate.
Chen Xian gazed at Fang Jing’s well-shaped, rounded chest, uncertain how to proceed, for both darkened wounds lay beneath those twin peaks.
From his experience with the previous wounds, he knew that unless he dealt with these last two, Fang Jing’s life would still be in danger.
At last, Chen Xian resolved to act, unwilling to be constrained by propriety in such an emergency.
“Officer Fang, this is urgent. I’ll help you remove the poison from the last two wounds on your chest,” he said, his lean, angular face set with solemn determination.
Upon hearing this, Fang Jing looked down at her proud curves, then at the wounds below, and finally nodded, murmuring a barely audible assent.
Immediately, a deep blush bloomed on her alluring face, delicate as if painted by wine, making her appear all the more charming.
Had any of Fang Jing’s colleagues been present, they would have been astounded to see their usual iron-willed deputy captain so bashful and demure, as if the sun had risen in the west!
For reasons she could not grasp, as Fang Jing looked at Chen Xian—his face handsome and sharply defined—her heart, beneath its shyness, held a faint expectation…
Though she usually favored armor over adornment, she too possessed a girlish heart, and could not help but admire a hero.
And in Fang Jing’s eyes, Chen Xian was nothing less than a true hero.
Had he not appeared like a heavenly warrior today, she would have been dragged from the Hualong Federation by those criminals, subjected to unspeakable torment and humiliation, and finally slain to become the “spirit bride” of a dead bandit.
The thought sent a deep shudder of fear through her.
Facing down bullets without hesitation, destroying a helicopter with his bare hands, subduing criminals, and rescuing her from peril—
If such a man is not a great hero, then who is?
Just then, an old line from a film drifted into her mind: “My true love is a peerless hero—one day he’ll come to marry me, riding on a rainbow cloud…”
And now, the man before her was precisely the hero of her dreams! Only, did she hold a place in his heart…
Chen Xian, too, was momentarily dazed by Fang Jing’s beauty: what a stunning woman—she outshines the flowers themselves!
“Officer Fang, I’m about to begin,” he said, taking a deep breath and banishing all distracting thoughts.
Lost in her reverie, Fang Jing was startled by his voice. Realizing what she had been thinking, her cheeks flushed even deeper, burning as if on fire.
“Fang Jing, how can you be so shameless!” she scolded herself inwardly.
Chen Xian thought her crimson face was due to nerves and reassured her, “Officer Fang, don’t worry. It will be over soon—the toxins will be gone and your wounds will heal perfectly!”
Fang Jing nodded shyly, saying nothing more.
Chen Xian cleared his mind, then pressed his hand gently to the wounds beneath her proud chest, infusing them with a wisp of spiritual energy…
Fang Jing felt a tingling, numb sensation across her chest, her body trembling slightly. The thought of his hand on such a sensitive spot made her cheeks blaze and her heart race wildly.
After several minutes, the two wounds before her chest were fully detoxified and healed, leaving not the slightest scar.
Chen Xian nodded with satisfaction, withdrew his hand, and smiled, “Officer Fang, it’s done.”
Yet as Fang Jing saw him withdraw, she felt an odd sense of loss…
“Grandmaster Chen, th-thank you…” she said, drawing a deep breath to cast away her swirling thoughts as she stood.
Her tone was full of gratitude.
Chen Xian smiled, “No need to thank me. Saving you has been a great reward in itself!”
Hearing this, Fang Jing was curious—what kind of reward did he mean?
Suddenly, she thought of something, her gaze drifting to the stacks of money piled nearby.
“Grandmaster Chen, this money belongs to the bank, you…” Fang Jing feared he might take the cash, and quickly spoke.
Such money could never be taken.
Before she could finish, Chen Xian waved his hand, “Officer Fang, you misunderstand. I don’t want the money.”
Then he noticed a wound on Fang Jing’s forehead, the result of a previous blow—one he had somehow missed until now, but which now marred her perfect beauty like a blemish on flawless jade.
It pained him to see it.
Almost unconsciously, Chen Xian reached out, placing his hand on Fang Jing’s forehead.
“Grandmaster Chen, you…” Fang Jing was startled, thinking he might do something improper.
Only then did Chen Xian recall that he had not asked her permission to heal her forehead, so he explained,
“Officer Fang, don’t worry—I mean no harm. It’s just that to see such a perfect face marred by a scar would be a terrible waste. I couldn’t bear it, so I want to restore it for you.”
Hearing such praise, Fang Jing’s heart felt as though it were filled with honey—sweet and warm.
She blushed, but replied softly and joyfully, “Thank you…”
