Chapter 96: Entering the Hive
Raccoon City was a not-so-large super sci-tech city. The entire city was essentially under the surveillance of Umbrella Corporation.
In fact, in the setting of the entire Resident Evil world, Umbrella Corporation was immensely powerful, possessing the most advanced technology and weapons, making it a very qualified big villain.
In the later stages, when all government armed organizations in the world had essentially disappeared, Umbrella Corporation still maintained substantial forces.
Even without developing the T-Virus, Umbrella Corporation had basically been able to control the entire world. Their research ultimately plunged themselves, humanity, and even the Earth into the abyss of destruction.
This was a perfect and intriguing doomsday era.
And at this moment, the doomsday era was slowly raising the curtain.
Deep in the night, the pitch-black sky was filled with shining stars.
In a manor near the outskirts of Raccoon City, strong winds howled, and flocks of birds chattered, evoking a sense of gloom and fear.
The fallen leaves on the ground were swept up by the fierce wind, as if heralding the imminent arrival of a storm.
Outside the manor, several armed personnel were quietly advancing, and soon they reached the entrance.
In the distant forest, another group of more than thirty heavily equipped armed personnel hid themselves.
Among them, a tall boy in a cashmere sweater and sweatpants held a cigarette in one hand and a telescope in the other, with three sturdy armed personnel flanking him.
Qian Yaoduo said in a low voice, "Boss, if we charge in directly, the Red Queen will detect us, and Umbrella Corporation will also learn of our presence."
Ma Jun smiled and said, "It's fine! Oh, those guys have already broken in; let's catch up."
Putting away the telescope and extinguishing the cigarette, Ma Jun waved his hand, and the group ran forward, rushing into the manor in moments.
At this moment, inside the manor, Umbrella's mercenaries had subdued Matt and Alice, preparing to enter the Hive.
Ma Jun charged in with the soldiers without hiding, startling them greatly.
"Don't be nervous. The plan has changed. The company has received new information: there's a huge crisis inside the Hive. I'm here to support!" Ma Jun spoke with a smile. "Did Alice report any information?"
The mercenaries exchanged glances. The information they had received did not mention the support from Ma Jun and others, so the squad remained vigilant, all holding weapons.
The black captain frowned. "She has amnesia and knows nothing. I can't confirm your identity, and you don't look like a soldier!"
"Oh, it's a side effect of the defense system!" Ma Jun nodded and smiled. "Don't be nervous, kids. The order I received was to investigate the situation inside the Hive at all costs. If you're willing to join, that's wonderful. If not, I'll clear all obstacles. As for other matters, including my identity, you lack the authority to know!"
These things Ma Jun mentioned—Alice's amnesia, the Hive—were all secrets of Umbrella Corporation. Thus, these mercenaries basically trusted Ma Jun, but his tone made them very displeased.
Nevertheless, facing more than thirty armed forces, these guys had no intention of fighting.
After a moment's hesitation, the black captain said, "Commander, we will cooperate with you!"
"Very good!" Ma Jun nodded with a smile. "Then let's proceed. Enter the underground passage and take the train quickly." Saying this, Ma Jun put away his smile. "This matter is probably even more serious than the crisis we imagined."
The events inside the Hive deep underground were, of course, Umbrella Corporation's secrets; few outside knew of them. This statement further won the mercenaries' trust.
They led the charge, acting cautiously because they didn't know the specifics, guiding Alice and Matt to open the door to the underground, and the group rushed in.
Umbrella Corporation loved to build grand projects underground, like ants. Besides the Hive, they had many such bases around the world. Moreover, their construction standards were very high; some bases were equivalent to a vast underground city.
After descending the stairs, there was an open area with various boxes placed around it. At the end, there was a hideous train parked.
After the mercenaries looked around and saw no danger, they wanted to enter the train.
"Wait!" Ma Jun called out to them.
The mercenaries clearly still didn't trust Ma Jun, so they immediately grew vigilant, aiming their guns at him.
"Your military standards need improvement; you don't understand the situation here. Everything requires caution!" Ma Jun said expressionlessly, waving his hand. "Qian Yaoduo, search the train!"
In the standoff, Qian Yaoduo had no hesitation, leading five people carefully into the train. Soon after, he announced loudly, "No danger. Found a man in a coma!"
"Let's go!" Ma Jun said to the relaxing mercenaries.
Inside the train, there were no seats, the decoration was simple—it looked like a cargo carriage. At the back, a door was open, with a man lying on the ground.
This man was named Spencer Parks, and like Alice, he was a guardian of the Hive. He had secretly stolen the T-Virus and caused its leakage.
It could be said that he was the chief culprit behind the entire Resident Evil outbreak.
However, Ma Jun now needed to thank this guy, because he had allowed him to easily obtain the T-Virus.
After Spencer stole the T-Virus, he was supposed to leave, but didn't expect that the Red Queen had a defense system outside the Hive, releasing a gas that caused people to fall into a coma and suffer amnesia side effects.
So, this guy stole the T-Virus but stayed on the train! And including himself, no one else knew this.
The medic among the mercenaries stepped forward to check on Spencer.
Qian Yaoduo walked forward, gave Ma Jun a glance, nodded slightly, and looked at the Qiankun Ring on his hand, indicating that the item was safely in hand, stored in the Qiankun Ring.
Soon, Spencer woke up. This guy had amnesia and knew nothing.
"Okay, start the train!" Ma Jun said. "Qian Yaoduo, lead five personnel to stay here!"
"Yes!" Qian Laoduo led the people off the train.
The mercenaries had no objections.
The train's power had malfunctioned, but after a female soldier quickly fixed it, the train started.
More than thirty people were crammed into the train, making the space very cramped. Ma Jun gazed at Alice with great interest, as if viewing a rare treasure.
Alice was bewildered. She had a beautiful face and a good figure, except for her smaller chest—she was indeed a beauty. But she didn't perceive in Ma Jun's gaze that kind of male appreciation for women.
Meanwhile, as the train drove, Qian Yaoduo led a group of subordinates to leave the manor according to the previous plan. Soon after, two hundred low-level zombies appeared driving cargo trucks.
Under Qian Laoduo's command, temporary checkpoints were set up outside the manor, and even laser weapons were deployed to ensure armed support for Ma Jun in any situation.
