Chapter 21: Setting Sail
This servant was named Qian Moduo. The system had already arranged a watertight background for him—a well-crafted identity as an orphan who had studied abroad in Europe and America, only recently returning to his homeland. Just as Xiaohua had described, he possessed the physical qualities and skills of a perfect special forces operative, along with expertise across various other professions, making him a truly versatile talent. His body was in every respect human—he needed to eat and sleep. He was unwaveringly loyal to Ma Jun; though he might offer suggestions, once Ma Jun made a decision, he would carry it out with utmost effort, even if it meant sacrificing his own life.
Such a capable assistant would be invaluable in the primary world and could also accompany Ma Jun to other realms. For worlds already conquered, he could come and go freely with Ma Jun’s authorization; for those not yet conquered, he would consume the same amount of energy points as Ma Jun to enter or exit. In short, Qian Moduo was vastly superior to Ma Jun in his current state. Drawing such a companion in the lottery was an immense boon for Ma Jun.
After listening to Qian Moduo, Ma Jun felt completely at ease. Although he was slightly disappointed that his new companion wasn’t a young woman, he was already very satisfied. “Very good. From now on, I’ll call you Old Qian! Please call guest services and have my clothes sent for cleaning. Then, after I’ve taken a shower, we’ll sit down and discuss some important matters.”
“Yes, boss!” Qian Moduo replied respectfully and strode out of the bathroom.
Ma Jun lay back down, his mind drifting toward the future. He fished out a cigarette from the Qiankun Ring and lit it.
After a refreshing shower, Ma Jun dressed and entered the living room. Qian Moduo was sitting upright, watching television. Upon seeing Ma Jun, he immediately stood up. “Hello, boss!”
“Old Qian, don’t be so formal, like we’re in the middle of a battle. Let’s be more relaxed!” Ma Jun said helplessly.
“Yes, boss!”
Well, that was pointless! Ma Jun scratched his forehead and decided to let it go, sitting down with Qian Moduo to discuss future plans.
As for plundering other realms, that could wait. Ma Jun needed to discuss affairs in the primary world first. Though he had no intention of creating chaos or seizing power here, as a great dimension raider, he couldn’t bear the thought of living a miserable life in his own world; it would stick in his craw.
Ma Jun had always wanted to become an actor—it was his passion, and he wasn’t about to give up on it. In the past, he would have had to work his way up slowly, but with Old Qian around, things would be much simpler.
First, Ma Jun needed Old Qian to establish a film company dedicated to promoting him. With a team in place, publicity and all related affairs could be set in motion, leaving Ma Jun free to focus on acting. This film company would eventually create a cinema chain, launch an internet company, and evolve into a complete cultural industry chain. In this way, Ma Jun could live freely and comfortably in the primary world.
And all of this—every last detail—would be handled by Qian Moduo. Ma Jun would simply reap the rewards.
Of course, achieving such a grand dream would not be easy, but with Qian Moduo clearing the way, things would be much smoother. As for money, it was the one thing Ma Jun lacked the least. By authorizing Qian Moduo to make a trip to the Infernal Affairs or Titanic worlds, his skills and methods would quickly bring in wealth.
In any world that had already been conquered, Qian Moduo, like Ma Jun, enjoyed the privilege of immortality, making their tasks even easier.
“So, Old Qian, do you have confidence in achieving the goals I’ve set for you?” Ma Jun asked with a cheerful smile.
“I guarantee completion of the mission, boss!” Qian Moduo replied with unwavering resolve, still the very image of a soldier.
Ma Jun paid no attention to these details, nodding in satisfaction as he handed Old Qian a cigarette. Old Qian didn’t smoke, but he would never disobey his boss over something so trivial and accepted it.
“Boss, I have a few concrete ideas I’d like you to hear.”
“Speak.”
“I suggest we set up an offshore holding company. It would offer a lot of advantages—”
“Stop!” Ma Jun waved his hand, cutting him off. “You don’t need to tell me the details. Just take care of it yourself!”
“Very well, boss. I’d like to apply for a trip to the Infernal Affairs world to accumulate some funds.”
“Approved. Go ahead!” Ma Jun agreed heartily. For someone completely loyal to him, why not let him act freely?
Qian Moduo’s execution was impeccable. Without a moment’s delay, he left at once. Because time in the lower worlds passed so differently, it was negligible—so the very next moment, Qian Moduo was back, still in his suit, his expression grave. “Boss, to make things easier, I’d like to borrow your Qiankun Ring.”
“Is that so?” Ma Jun pondered. He didn’t urgently need the Qiankun Ring at the moment, but he was used to its convenience in daily life. If he lent it to Old Qian, it might be a while before he got it back, since Old Qian would be busy upon his return.
“Wait!” Ma Jun suddenly remembered something. “The system should have upgraded to level two, and the shop should be open! Xiaohua didn’t even mention it. I’ll check the shop first—if they have one, I’ll just buy you one.”
“You perverted old man, you finally remembered me?” Xiaohua’s image appeared, hands on her hips. “Hmph, I see you’ve forgotten all about me now that you’ve got this servant. You think you don’t need me anymore, don’t you?”
So she was jealous—this brat’s mood really changed quickly! Ma Jun was exasperated, but quickly smiled, “How could I forget you? You’re my greatest support, the most beautiful and powerful Xiaohua! Old Qian is just an errand runner; he can’t compare to you!”
“Hmph!” At this, Xiaohua’s lips curled into a haughty smile.
“The boss is absolutely right!” Qian Moduo chimed in at just the right moment.
Well, who would have thought such a serious fellow could be so tactful? Ma Jun now looked at Old Qian with newfound respect. “Xiaohua, can I open the shop now?”
“You may. The system is currently level two, the shop is level one. Go take a look yourself—I’m busy watching my show!” And with that, Xiaohua vanished.
Ma Jun was used to Xiaohua’s unreliability and paid her no mind. He pulled up the system panel and tapped the shop button.
A pale blue panel appeared before him. There were no categories, just boxes made up of animated images and text, ten boxes per row stretching down endlessly.
Ma Jun’s eyes dazzled and his head spun from the sheer volume.
“Truly, there’s everything one could want!” he muttered. “But this is just irresponsible—terrible user experience!”
Grumbling, Ma Jun suddenly noticed a search bar at the top of the panel. Without hesitation, he clicked on it and typed “Qiankun Ring.” Two results popped up at once.
“Basic Qiankun Ring, ten cubic meters, one thousand energy points.”
“Intermediate Qiankun Ring, fifty cubic meters, three thousand energy points.”
At present, the shop was only level one, so higher-level Qiankun Rings were unavailable. Ma Jun still had four thousand energy points—if he bought the intermediate one, his next world conquest would have to succeed, or he wouldn’t be able to return!
To be safe, he bought a basic one for Qian Moduo. After that, Qian Moduo left again.
Curious, Ma Jun wondered how much a bio-servant cost. He didn’t close the panel, but searched for it.
“My god!” The search result showed a bio-servant cost a full ten thousand energy points!
“Looks like I really hit the jackpot with this lottery draw!” Ma Jun realized.
A short while later, Old Qian reappeared. Ma Jun didn’t ask him for a report—he indicated that Qian Moduo should handle things independently.
The next morning, Qian Moduo set out to establish the company, while Ma Jun returned to school for his classes.
