Chapter 150: Ma Jun Can Be Lifted Up
The comrades of the Order of the Phoenix, led by Snape, continually questioned Majun's ideas.
However, after a round of arguing, everyone noticed the strange reactions of Majun and Dumbledore, which left them utterly perplexed. Silence fell over the room.
Seeing that the timing was right, Majun put down his teacup and looked at Snape with a smile. "Regarding the issue you raised, Professor Dumbledore and I have actually reached a consensus! When Voldemort is resurrected, I shall deal with him personally!"
"You?" Snape let out a scoff. "You surely don't believe Voldemort is some villain from a fairy tale, whom anyone can simply kill?"
That statement was actually quite accurate—was Voldemort not the ultimate villain of a fairy tale?
"Wait, Professor Dumbledore, has..." Lupin caught the implication in Majun's words. "You mean..."
"Yes!" Dumbledore smiled. "Although this is hard to believe, it is the truth... Professor Majun's personal strength surpasses that of Voldemort! I can guarantee this, because we have duelled. He was able to defeat me in a very short span of time!"
Everyone trusted Dumbledore's strength; they knew that Dumbledore and Voldemort were matched at roughly sixty-forty. If Majun could truly defeat Dumbledore with ease, then defeating Voldemort certainly would not be very difficult!
"But... when?" Snape asked, stunned.
"Remember back at Hogwarts?" Majun smiled. "You and I had a duel. As it happened, Dumbledore witnessed it as well. After I defeated you, he invited me to a match. Thus..." He shrugged, implying that the outcome was exactly as Dumbledore had stated.
"Oh, Merlin! That is simply shocking and unbelievable!" Mrs. Weasley said with an exaggerated expression.
The other comrades wore identical expressions. Had it not been for Dumbledore's guarantee, nothing could have made them believe that a young man like Majun could possibly surpass Voldemort in magical mastery!
One must remember that in the British wizarding world, Voldemort reigned supreme, and many formidable wizards were incapable of withstanding even a single blow from him.
A newly joined comrade, the renowned Auror Alastor Moody, rolled his magical eye and fixed it on Majun. "I am quite excited now. Can we have a match, just the two of us?"
Moody was someone who would later become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. He possessed immense personal strength, an unpredictable and volatile temper, and physical scars, making him a legendary figure within the Ministry of Magic's Auror Office.
"It seems that if I want everyone to trust me completely, I must demonstrate something!" Majun stood up, and a wand materialized in his hand out of thin air. "Perhaps behaving this way seems rather arrogant, but I still must say—aside from Professor Dumbledore, the rest of you may come at me together. Attack however you wish; I shall handle all of you!"
Lupin, Moody, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Snape, McGonagall, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Nymphadora Tonks—all nine of them—were somewhat provoked by Majun's words.
Among them, Snape was the most furious.
"An arrogant young man, do you wish to know if the people you are challenging represent the absolute pinnacle of the Order of the Phoenix?" Snape sneered. "Even Voldemort would have to flee if he faced us alone! If you are looking to be taught a lesson, then come on!"
To call them the absolute pinnacle might have been a slight exaggeration, and the claim that Voldemort would have to flee when facing them alone was equally far-fetched. Yet, there was no denying that the strength of this group ranked among the very upper echelons of the British wizarding world!
However, for Majun—who had explored and fully mastered countless spells—he felt absolute confidence in his ability to defeat them.
Consequently, the group marched grandly out of the three-story wooden cottage and into the farmland outside.
Dumbledore stood not far away, acting as the referee. Knowing that his time was limited and intentionally wishing to elevate Majun to a position of leadership, he did not intervene.
Snape and the others formed a circle around Majun, all raising their wands. It looked like quite an imposing formation.
"Ready! Begin!"
At Dumbledore's command, Snape and the others launched their attack.
In an instant, streams of brightly colored spells and bursts of magical energy erupted from their respective wands, hurtling toward Majun. As adult and capable wizards, the energy behind their spellcasting was intense enough to manifest distinct colors.
Rather than relying on inner strength and agile physical evasion, Majun instead cast several defensive spells in a split second, repelling their attacks entirely.
"What?!"
Everyone was dumbfounded. They had never witnessed a single person capable of casting so many spells in such a short amount of time. Nevertheless, they quickly recovered their composure and amplified their magical output!
"Impedimenta!"
"Stupefy!"
"Expelliarmus!"
"Sectumsempra!"
While the spells cast by the other comrades were relatively moderate, Snape alone unleashed a curse he had invented himself.
Yet Majun remained calm and composed, standing motionless in the spot without even uttering an incantation. Pointing his wand toward himself, he swiftly erected three layers of protective spells before any of the attacks could reach him.
"My turn!" Majun helpfully reminded them a moment later. Pointing his wand sharply at Snape, a blinding flash of blue light erupted, instantly sending Snape flying backward to crash in the distance.
"Professor McGonagall, my apologies!" Before the others could react, Majun cast another spell, knocking Professor McGonagall's wand right out of her hand.
Twenty minutes or so later, the battle—which had appeared intensely fierce—finally came to an end.
The outcome of the battle was a sweeping victory for Majun!
By this time, when the comrades of the Order of the Phoenix looked at Majun, their gazes were filled with profound respect. In short, they now recognized that Majun existed on an entirely different plane from themselves.
With the exception of Snape, of course! That brooding man sat gloomily by himself, downing two large goblets of rum in succession.
When a person succeeds through relentless personal effort, and is framed by various surrounding circumstances, an aura naturally forms around them.
Clearly, Majun now possessed that aura!
The group harbored no lingering resentment from having fought Majun; after all, they belonged to the forces of righteousness, and every single one of them walked in the light with magnanimous hearts.
As for Dumbledore, he spared no effort now in propelling Majun to the forefront.
And Majun certainly proved equal to the task; he was hardly someone who could not be propped up.
"Professor Majun, please continue outlining your plan. I am certain everyone is quite curious!" Dumbledore said after the group had rested for a moment.
"My plan is to resurrect Voldemort!" Majun said with utter confidence. "Everyone must already know about the diary. According to my investigation, it was Lucius Malfoy who secretly slipped it to Ginny! This means Voldemort must have been in contact with Lucius within the past few months. We can obtain information about Voldemort from him. Following that, someone will need to resurrect him!"
