“Congratulations, Uncle! You did a great job on your first assignment! Your reputation in this dimension is now 800, which means we can plunder this world!” This time, Little Flower didn’t tease Ma Jun; she was genuinely delighted.

“We did it!” Ma Jun’s eyes sparkled. “What are we waiting for? Hurry up and use the energy to plunder this dimension!”

“Alright, current reputation is 1000, energy is 10,000. The system will use half the energy and fuse with the world’s origin! Uncle, I’m about to start it!”

“Go ahead!”

Ma Jun didn’t mind spending the energy points; after all, it was a necessary expense.

Moments later, the world remained unchanged, with no strange phenomena, but Ma Jun felt a newfound lightness in his body and mind, as if he’d been wrapped in water before. It was merely an illusion.

“Did it work?” Ma Jun asked.

“Of course!” Little Flower replied proudly. “Did you think the old master, Shen Jingzi, spent all that time making the system for nothing?”

“So now I can freely enter and exit the Infernal Path dimension?”

“Yes, you can go back whenever you want, Uncle. Oh, and the system has enough accumulated energy to upgrade!”

Upgrading would unlock the Level One Mall—Ma Jun hadn’t forgotten that. “How much energy is needed for the upgrade?”

“Five thousand!”

“There’ll only be five thousand energy left. After upgrading, we won’t be able to conquer other worlds!” Ma Jun reminded her.

“Ah,” Little Flower said sheepishly, “I forgot about that.”

Ma Jun ignored her words, thinking to himself: now that I’ve reached a thousand reputation, I can try the lottery!

He felt a surge of anticipation and didn’t plan to save up the reputation points. He summoned the system panel and clicked straight on the lottery option.

A spinning wheel appeared before his eyes. Ma Jun examined it closely and saw six segments: Beginner Acting Skills, Unlimited Water Gun, Beginner Special Forces, Dragon Subduing Palms, Scoundrel Certificate, and Beginner Quanzhen Internal Arts.

What on earth was Unlimited Water Gun? And the Scoundrel Certificate left Ma Jun utterly speechless.

“Uncle, don’t be scared! Hurry up and try your luck!” Little Flower said gleefully, enjoying his discomfort.

Ma Jun’s face darkened. If I really draw the Scoundrel Certificate, I’ll make sure you pay for it!

He waved his hand, and the wheel spun rapidly.

Ma Jun stared intently as the wheel slowed down, slower and slower. As long as it’s not the Unlimited Water Gun or the Scoundrel Certificate, I don’t mind any of the others! he muttered inwardly.

“Congratulations, Uncle! You got Beginner Special Forces!” Little Flower grinned. “This includes the qualities and skills of a special forces soldier. You’ve hit the jackpot!”

Little Flower issued the reward, and Ma Jun felt a rush of comfort throughout his body. He patted his abs and chest, noticing they were more defined than before. He leapt up and threw a couple of punches, feeling explosive power in his movements!

“Heh, not bad, not bad—I’m quite satisfied!” Ma Jun nodded. “Once I prepare for a while, let’s go back. My own dimension is still the best!”

Ma Jun felt no attachment to this world. He couldn’t wait to head out, get in his car, and withdraw all his savings, spending them everywhere.

First, he went to the mall and bought ten sets of clothes and shoes, dozens of packs of cigarettes, and then splurged on tens of thousands worth of gold and jewels. Finally, Ma Jun slipped into the police station and quietly acquired a handgun and several thousand rounds of ammunition. All of these were stowed away in his spatial ring.

He found a restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal. Afterward, he visited a barbershop and cut his hair back to how it had been when he arrived. Returning home, he showered and changed into the clothes he had worn at the very start, taken from his spatial ring.

With everything ready, Ma Jun summoned the system panel. The Return button was no longer gray. He didn’t hesitate; he pressed it directly, and his vision plunged into darkness.

When he woke again, Ma Jun found himself on his dormitory bed.

“Hey, kid, why did you run off on your own just now?” Gu Xinghua opened the door and walked in. “The whole school’s talking about you—they say you’re a scumbag and a heartless jerk! What’s going on with you and Yan Rong?”

Ma Jun felt disoriented for a moment; to him, the memories of Yan Rong were long past. After a brief pause, he propped himself up and jumped down from the upper bunk. “It’s complicated between me and Yan Rong. If you’re my brother, don’t ask.”

“You really don’t like her anymore?” Gu Xinghua walked over, pulled out a cigarette, and handed it to Ma Jun. The guy had been smoking since his first year, a seasoned smoker.

“You could say that.” Ma Jun nodded.

“Honestly, breaking up isn’t so bad!” Gu Xinghua said. “I heard from Liu Yuehong that Yan Rong doesn’t have a great personality—she’s a bit vain. A lot of girls gossip about her behind her back.”

Ma Jun had dated Yan Rong for three years; he knew her true nature well. Now, he had no lingering attachment and laughed, bumping Gu Xinghua with his shoulder. “So, when did you start chatting with Liu Yuehong?”

“Heh, that’s none of your business!”

In the afternoon, Ma Jun joined his classmates for military training. Throughout the drills, everyone’s eyes kept drifting toward him. During the break, even the instructor called Ma Jun aside and gossiped with him.

Ma Jun bantered casually with the instructor.

After training, the instructor announced there would be no evening drills, and the whole class erupted in cheers.

Ma Jun and his dorm mates had dinner together. As soon as they returned to the dormitory, Gu Xinghua shouted, “Come on, let’s play some games!”

Although League of Legends didn’t exist in this world, there was a popular competitive game called Clash Hour, which was very similar—six versus six, but with a different name.

There were four people in the dorm, bunks above and desks below. Anyone who could afford to attend an arts college had decent family conditions. Ma Jun didn’t compare to the others, but his parents had still bought him a computer worth just over four thousand.

It was hot, and the four young men stripped off their shirts, bare-chested as they booted up their computers. Gu Xinghua and the other two, Feng Deye and Liu Lemin, stared at Ma Jun with shining eyes.

Ma Jun shivered. “What are you guys planning? I’m not into that!”

“Get lost!” Gu Xinghua laughed, punching Ma Jun. “Only just noticed—your muscles are pretty impressive!”

The four were all in their youthful prime, with decent physiques. None had eight-pack abs, but some contours were visible; among them, Ma Jun had the best build.

Ma Jun waved dismissively. “This is nothing—I’m still far from how I was as a special forces soldier!”

“Yeah, right!” Feng Deye pulled up a chair and turned to Ma Jun. “You’re full of it.”

“Alright, log in and queue up—let’s get to battle!” Liu Lemin shouted.

Ma Jun hadn’t played this so-called Clash Hour before, but he did have it installed. He clicked to open it; the login screen was even flashier than League of Legends.

He entered the game, and after a couple of disastrous matches, his dorm mates gave him a hard time, though he improved quickly.

As the group shouted and laughed, the game in full swing, footsteps suddenly sounded at the door, and the dormitory was abruptly flung open!
