Volume One, Chapter 68: The Source
Murong Yunyi appeared at the entrance of the tent, his face dark and stern, his gaze sharp and piercing, his entire presence exuding a chilling aura that made one’s heart tremble.
The hall was resplendent and lavishly decorated, more reminiscent of an imperial palace than the home of a cultivator. Rows upon rows of banquet tables filled the grand chamber, most of them already occupied by guests. At the seat of honor sat Xiang Kun, his face glowing with health, brimming with energy and vigor.
As a gesture of thanks, Lu Wei copied Leng Xiaocheng’s Great Time Chess Array onto a jade talisman and gave it to Wei Xiaoyao for study. The two quickly became close, forging a bond of brotherhood.
Lu Wei’s expression remained unchanged, but inwardly he chuckled. The inner courtyard truly had all sorts of characters—there were even people looking to hitch a free ride. All this fuss over a single Linlang Pearl, and yet the person was so unwilling to part with it—how frugal could one be?
“Junior Brother Lu, what a coincidence that we ended up in the same group. It must be fate! I’ve already told you I’d take good care of you,” Mi Xia approached Lu Wei, her smile charming and full of flirtatious intent.
His head felt heavy and clouded, his eyelids weighed down as if by a thousand pounds. It took great effort to open them even a sliver. He saw the lamp was still on, and the blood transfusion had been completed and taken away. Xiao Yuchan, dressed in her pajamas, was sitting by his bedside, gazing at him in a daze. “Why aren’t you sleeping in your own room?” he asked, puzzled and weak.
“Haha, come on, have a drink with your brother first,” Yang Chaolin took out a glass, filled it, and gestured for Xue to come over and drink. Naturally, Xue refused, shrinking back against the door like a helpless lamb.
“I heard you’re headed to the Devil’s Training Camp. Sister-in-law really can’t bear to see you go through such hardship. Two years away—how can anyone endure that kind of suffering?” Aunt Yuan urged them to eat and drink, her words full of reluctance.
“A mid-grade work talisman!” A look of astonishment appeared on Qian Huai’s face. Moments ago, he had doubted Lu Wei’s claim, but upon hearing it was a mid-grade work talisman, he was completely convinced.
Lu Wei looked up in alarm, shocked to see that the green light was actually a massive azure python, thirty or forty yards long and as thick as a barrel.
Seventeen was focused on the shrimp rolls, finding them more and more delicious with each bite, while Qiyao seemed uninterested. Seventeen, mouth full of lingering flavor, finally put down his chopsticks after a satisfying meal. Looking at the pile of empty shrimp roll plates, it suddenly occurred to him that Lord Qiyao hadn’t eaten a single one. Was he afraid the ring might end up in his food?
Not long after Chen Yun left, rustling sounds emerged by the stream. Mu Yu, Sun Han, and Wei Yu pushed aside the head-high weeds and arrived at the water’s edge. Upon seeing Li Mingne’s corpse, their faces darkened in gloom.
“Manzi, what’s there to be embarrassed about? You said yourself you’re already his wife!” Yang Qiao said with a laugh.
A torrent of overwhelming sword energy swept forth, cleaving swathes of trees in half and shattering boulders. For several kilometers around, the forest shook violently.
As I spoke, I opened the two large chests beside me—filled to the brim with firearms! Long and short rifles, sniper rifles, military knives, daggers, ammunition, explosives, and even a few military crossbows.
The Abyss was a wondrous place—apart from abyssal creatures, there were humans, dragons, beastmen, and all manner of chaos.
Huai Ren pointed ahead, and sure enough, a horde of zombies, attracted by the earlier commotion, was slowly closing in, clogging the road completely.
“He Manzi, just for your pitiful pride, you ignore others’ feelings. Aren’t you being too selfish?” Zhang Xiaohu seemed determined to speak his mind, paying no heed to the glances of passersby.
A trace of fear flickered across the scarred face of the Son of Wind as he tried to retreat swiftly, only to find Tang Fei shadowing his every move.
