At the bedroom door, An Tong patted the man’s shoulder. “I can walk by myself.”

Although it was still early, being carried into the bedroom in his arms was enough to invite all sorts of imaginings.

Especially now that An Tong was growing more accustomed to Rong Shen’s presence. Physical contact between them had become increasingly natural—even something she looked forward to.

Yet the man’s arms did not loosen in the slightest. He continued holding her securely as he turned sideways and entered the room.

An Tong kicked her legs, her voice turning softer. “Aren’t you tired… Ah…”

Before she could finish, both of them tumbled onto the large bed.

An Tong was stunned for a second. Her long hair spread across the sheets as she stared wide-eyed at the man above her.

Rong Shen had one knee bent beside her waist, his body half-curved as he looked down at her.

The ambiguous atmosphere reached its peak. By the time An Tong realized what was happening, the man had already leaned over her.

She instinctively closed her eyes. His lips captured hers, while he guided her arms around his shoulders.

When it came to intimacy, the man always took the lead.

Unlike his usual restraint and suppression, Rong Shen kissed her fiercely, pinning her beneath him.

An Tong passively endured it, her thoughts gradually growing hazy.

Even though they often fell asleep and woke up entwined cheek to cheek, at most they had only held each other. They had never been in a position like this.

An Tong wore a loose knitted sweater with a shallow V-neck. After she shifted a little, the hem rolled up above her lower abdomen.

Though Rong Shen’s kiss was fierce, he had not lost his reason.

When the kiss ended, he gently rubbed his thumb over An Tong’s exquisitely soft cheek. His voice was husky, almost sensual. “Why are you keeping your eyes closed?”

An Tong had not only closed her eyes; her entire body was rigid.

Usually, she could deceive herself by interpreting the tension in her limbs as nervousness.

But now…

An Tong could clearly sense certain changes in the man’s body. Though she had no experience with intimacy between men and women, basic common sense was enough for her to understand what they meant.

Yet Rong Shen continued to press against her neither lightly nor heavily, allowing her to feel the contact that was different from usual.

An Tong’s eyelids trembled. She looked up and searched for something to say. “Did you… have dinner?”

The corners of the man’s lips lifted faintly. The vibration of his chest as he spoke made his voice sound even deeper and richer. “Where else would I have eaten?”

An Tong fell silent.

The more she spoke, the more she gave herself away.

He had obviously come straight home after work. How could he possibly have stayed out for dinner?

An Tong regretted her words for a second, then crossed her arms over her face. “You—you should get up first. I can’t breathe…”

It was merely an excuse.

Naturally, Rong Shen could tell.

He did not rise. Instead, he pinched the girl’s chin and chuckled teasingly. “If you can’t breathe, why are you covering your face?”

An Tong puffed out her cheeks and pushed at his shoulder. “Get up.”

She was not resisting intimacy. She was simply a little lost about how quickly things were progressing.

Naturally, An Tong did not have enough strength to move Rong Shen.

But the man used her push as an excuse to shift to the side. Just as An Tong let out a breath of relief, the world spun, and their positions changed.

Rong Shen lay on his back, while she was lifted onto him.

When An Tong realized what had happened, she struggled to climb down. But her movements were too vigorous, eliciting a muffled groan from the man. She immediately froze.

“Stop moving around. Lie with me for a while.” Rong Shen put an arm around her shoulders, his grip strong and his voice growing even huskier.

An Tong’s heartbeat became chaotic. At a loss, she did not dare move rashly.

She lay quietly against the man’s chest, listening to his pounding heartbeat. When she stole a glance from the corner of her eye, she realized that he was not nearly as calm and composed as he appeared.

The dim bedroom was unlit. They could only make out each other’s expressions vaguely by the light filtering in from outside.

Gradually, the ambiguity faded, and An Tong began to calmly admire the man before her.

She had always thought of him as modest and gentle, with just the right measure of restraint and distance in every gesture.

But as the days they spent together from dawn to dusk accumulated, he gradually overturned her fixed impression of him.

The true foundation beneath his courteous manner was aloof indifference.

Beneath that warm and gentle exterior lay a profound mystery no one could fathom.

Lost in her thoughts, An Tong’s fingers unconsciously climbed to Rong Shen’s face.

“What are you looking at?”

The man rested his left arm behind his head, while his right arm encircled her back, stroking it now and then.

An Tong poked at the stubble emerging along his jaw and answered frankly, “You.”

Rong Shen’s Adam’s apple moved. His palm accidentally came to rest against the exposed side of her waist, and his dark brows immediately drew together. “Are you cold?”

The skin around An Tong’s waist was somewhat cool. When she felt the warmth of his palm, she shivered slightly before shaking her head. “I don’t feel cold. I’m fine.”

The man sighed. He straightened the hem of her sweater at the small of her back, then pulled a thin quilt over her. “How old are you? You still don’t know how to take care of yourself?”

Hearing him speak in the tone of an old father, An Tong complained, “Then I’ll go change into something else.”

The man turned on his side and drew her tightly into his arms. “Go later.”

The days continued to pass slowly amid such peaceful and comforting domesticity.

An Tong’s condition visibly improved by the day.

Those who did not know the truth, such as Liang Xu and the others who worked with her, would rarely notice that she suffered from a psychological disorder.

In the blink of an eye, four or five days passed, and less than half a month remained before the Lunar New Year.

An Tong had the day off. After seeing Rong Shen out that morning, she wandered listlessly into the study and read for a while.

The work assigned to her by the major technology company had already been completed. As before, it was simple, presenting no technical difficulty for An Tong at all.

At eleven in the morning, Ling Qi came bounding into the villa to keep An Tong company.

The two of them played several rounds of a game, and Ling Qi advanced an entire rank.

“Madam, with skills like yours, it would be a shame not to go pro.”

An Tong tugged listlessly at the corner of her mouth. “I used to play…”

Before she could finish, Ling Qi hurriedly asked, “Really? Madam, you’re amazing! Which region and which team were you with?”

“I was eliminated during the qualifiers.” An Tong looked at her mournfully.

Ling Qi fell silent.

But as the very embodiment of someone who was terrible at games yet loved playing them, Ling Qi quickly recovered and continued dragging An Tong into more matches, hoping An Tong would carry her to victory.

“Qi Qi, have you ever thought about doing something of your own?”

An Tong put down her phone and steered the conversation toward her true intention.

“Huh?” Ling Qi widened her eyes in confusion. “What kind of thing? Starting a business or something?”

An Tong rose and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows. After a moment’s thought, she said, “You could call it doing business, or you could call it entrepreneurship.”

Ling Qi swallowed, suddenly too nervous to respond.

If the boss found out she was secretly starting a business, he would probably fire her and demand compensation, wouldn’t he?

She certainly could not afford to pay it.

A flicker passed through Ling Qi’s eyes. She hurried over to An Tong and asked tentatively, “Madam, do you have some idea in mind?”

“Yes.” An Tong touched her fingernails and said calmly, “If you’re interested, there’s something we can do together. We’ll split the profits evenly.”
