Chapter 58: Raid on the Terran Fleet
The chest of the cosmic robot Da-Tie-Ku lit up with a blue glow, and then a beam of dark blue energy shot straight into the color timer on Ultraman Ace's chest.
Mechanical Ace, whose energy would have otherwise taken over a dozen hours to fully recover, saw the red light on its chest immediately start flashing before turning back to blue, restoring its energy to maximum capacity.
The radar on the Pedan spaceship could precisely locate which Hive Mother Ship the bracelet user was currently inside, allowing them to avoid those coordinates during attacks.
"Ace! Target the swarm frigates dead ahead. Fire the Metallium Beam at full power!" Rhodes issued the attack command.
Cleaning up these organic frigates did not yet require firing the Super Metallium Beam.
A full-power Metallium Beam would suffice. With Mechanical Ace enhanced to its absolute limit, the power of its Metallium Beam was more than enough to obliterate these bio-frigates.
More importantly, the energy consumption of a standard Metallium Beam was far lower than that of the Super Metallium Beam.
Furthermore, the Ultra Hole on top of Mechanical Ace's head could absorb the light of the primary star in the stellar system to slowly replenish its own energy.
"Schu!" Mechanical Ace immediately assumed its classic stance. After a brief charge, it formed an L-shape and fired the Metallium Beam at maximum power.
A rainbow-colored beam shot forth once again, launching an attack against the Hive fleet across the cosmos.
Boom! Boom!
Tyranid Hive frigates exploded into fireworks across the universe.
Pushing through Mechanical Ace's onslaught, over a dozen Tyranid bio-frigates finally closed the distance to attack range, and the biological artillery on their hulls immediately targeted Ace.
A cold smirk appeared on the corner of Rhodes's mouth, and he ordered Da-Tie-Ku to activate the energy absorption device on its chest, forming a protective shield in front of Ace.
The energy absorption device on Da-Tie-Ku's chest was profoundly overpowered, capable of absorbing virtually any kind of energy.
With one acting as a meat shield and the other as the firepower output, the bio-ships that flew in to attack Rhodes were instantly annihilated by more than half.
Meanwhile, Rhodes's Pedan Mother Ship had also arrived at the battlefield, slowly approaching the direction of the Hive Mother Ship under stealth mode.
Two Pedanium main cannons were currently charging. The firepower of a mother-ship-class main cannon was by no means inferior to the Super Metallium Beam, and this weapon had not yet been showcased to the Swarm!
On the other side, the Deathwatch members had also penetrated the Hive Mother Ship. The moment they stepped inside, they were immediately subjected to the psychic assault of the Norn Queen.
However, the golden psychic shield of the Emperor bestowed upon them by Rhodes effectively warded off these psychic attacks.
Seeing that psychic attacks were futile, the Norn Emissaries, Norn Brain-leeches, and several Hive Tyrants guarding the Norn Queen instantly charged toward the Space Marines.
Zzt! Zzt! Zzt!
The blue Pedanium rays unleashed their fury. The Hive Tyrants that were hit instantly had several massive blood craters blasted through their bodies before collapsing to the ground.
Several other Tyrant guards and Norn Queen bodyguards met the exact same fate.
"This firepower is way heavier than boltguns! This kind of weapon is amazing!" a Deathwatch member exclaimed.
"This ray weapon is somewhat similar to the weapons used by those metal skeletons; they both completely disintegrate their targets," a Deathwatch lieutenant remarked.
Indeed, they were both beam weapons, except that the weapons of those metal skeletons emitted green disintegration rays—once hit, survival was virtually impossible.
These blue beams first blasted a massive hole in the bugs' bodies and then slowly disintegrated them.
The weapons of humanity's Golden Age truly surpassed their imagination.
These Deathwatch members did not know that the swarms they killed using Pedan weapons were also counted as Rhodes's recharge items.
Upon being killed, their biomass was instantly decomposed and converted into top-ups, thus creating an illusion nearly identical to the effect of Necron Gauss weapons.
"Truly powerful. Hurry up and plant the charges, then we fall back. Our psychic shields probably won't hold much longer," the Deathwatch lieutenant said.
The Emperor's psychic might could indeed protect them from harm, but only temporarily. Inside her own domain, the Norn Queen's psychic power reached magnitudes beyond their imagination.
Even with the Emperor's psychic protection, they could still hear piercing screeches assaulting their minds. If they stayed too long, even the Emperor's safeguard wouldn't prevent them from going mad.
The Deathwatch members nodded. The front-rank soldiers provided covering fire, engaging the hive guards ahead, while the two soldiers in the rear planted timed explosives onto the hull of the Hive Mother Ship.
Seeing that the bombs were successfully planted, the Deathwatch lieutenant did not hesitate an instant, activating the teleportation bracelet to transport back into the Pedan spaceship.
The entire process took mere minutes. Seeing them return, Rhodes pressed the detonator.
Boom! Boom!
On the electronic screen inside the spaceship, everyone watched clearly as one of the Tyranid Hive Mother Ships among the enemy fleet suddenly erupted into fragments filling the sky.
"We did it!"
"We took down a Tyranid Mother Ship!" The Deathwatch members cheered, pumping their fists in excitement.
Usually, taking down such Hive Mother Ships was the job of the Imperial Navy or the main capital ships of their own chapters. Using boarding operations to destroy a Hive Mother Ship from the inside was a first for them.
This filled the Deathwatch Space Marines with boundless enthusiasm; they had never fought such an exhilarating battle.
"Stop celebrating! The battle isn't over yet! I'll recast the psychic shield for you. Head to the next Hive Mother Ship and keep blowing them up," Rhodes commanded.
This was barely anything! Starting to celebrate now? It was far too early!
His goal wasn't just to blow up a single bug mother ship.
Their current tactic was for his side to attract a massive swarm of Tyranid Hive frigates, while these Space Marines snuck in to raid the nest.
Once the Tyranids were beaten to their breaking point, he would unleash his trump card, striving to completely annihilate or severely cripple this Leviathan tentacle.
"Understood, My Lord! We're moving out right now."
"Remember! Operations must be efficient. Don't linger too long with those bugs. Plant the bombs and return immediately. Frankly, I felt you were a bit slow this time."
As he spoke, Rhodes channeled the golden psychic power once more, bestowing the Emperor's psychic blessing upon the Deathwatch members.
Amidst a flash of blue light, the Deathwatch members vanished once again.
On his end, Rhodes continued to pilot Mechanical Ace, attacking the Hive fleet and clearing out the bio-frigates right before him.
Observing the bio-ships that had closed in extremely close, Rhodes decided to test out one of Ace's signature moves.
"Ace, chop it down with the Ultra Guillotine."
