“Hm? Teacher, these questions…”
“Don’t misunderstand, don’t misunderstand! We just need to understand the student’s family situation a little better!”
“I…” Zhao He opened his mouth.
“Teacher! My cousin is twenty-five years old, just an ordinary employee at an ordinary company! As for marriage…” Tang Wange immediately picked up the conversation, then deliberately leaned toward her homeroom teacher, Cao, with an air of embarrassment. She did not lower her voice at all, making sure every lovestruck female teacher nearby heard her clearly.
“Actually, my cousin has a hidden illness. He has no intention of ever getting married!”
The teachers’ eyes widened at once, and the entire room sank into utter silence.
Sitting beside her, Zhao He raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly.
Well, spreading rumors about the dead apparently came at no cost. She could say anything without batting an eye!
“Oh? So that’s how it is…” Teacher Cao looked at Zhao He again, her eyes filled with regret, as if saying, What a pity, what a pity. Such a handsome face, yet afflicted with such a terrible defect! What a waste!
Zhao He, whose reputation had been thoroughly dragged through the mud, was on the verge of exploding under everyone’s stares.
Fortunately, Song Jing arrived with someone at that moment, breaking the awkward atmosphere in the office.
The man who came in with Song Jing appeared to be in his thirties. He wore a stiff silver-gray suit and carried a briefcase under one arm. When he stopped before Teacher Cao, he lifted his chin slightly and lowered his eyes, looking arrogant and overbearing.
“You’re Teacher Cao, I presume? Allow me to introduce myself. I’m the personal secretary of Mr. Song, the chief executive officer of EB Group. My surname is Yang. Mr. Song is tied up with an international project and unable to get away, so he specifically entrusted me to meet with you.”
“Yes… Mr. Song is indeed very busy. If this weren’t an unusual matter, we wouldn’t want to disturb him. It’s just that this incident is truly too serious, and Song Jing acted without considering the consequences…” Teacher Cao’s voice grew weaker and weaker.
“I’ve already heard the whole story from our young master. It was nothing more than a little squabble between students. Besides, Miss Tang doesn’t seem to have suffered any serious injury, does she?” Secretary Yang spoke while giving Tang Wange a rather frivolous once-over. “That said, I can understand. The Song Group has a reputation, after all, and there are always people who lose all sense of propriety and try to profit from it. It’s nothing important. Isn’t this just a matter of money? Mr. Song will certainly pay Miss Tang double compensation, so let’s put an end to this matter here.”
Birds of a feather flock together.
From top to bottom, from master to lackey, everyone in the Song family reeked of money.
Tang Wange was so furious she felt faint. She stepped forward without concealing her anger.
“I don’t want your filthy money! And this matter cannot simply be dismissed!”
“Oh? Then what does Miss Tang intend to do?” Secretary Yang asked, visibly displeased.

“Your young master Song is not a first-time offender. He has bullied and taken advantage of his power more than once. So he must give me and every student he has harmed an explanation!” Summoning her courage, Tang Wange pointed straight at Song Jing’s nose. “I want him to bow and apologize before the entire student body and faculty. He must also pay the compensation due to every student he has injured. And he must swear that from now on he will keep his head down and behave, and never cause trouble for anyone again!”
“Tang Wange, don’t push your luck…”
Song Jing’s face turned livid. In a fit of rage, he was about to unleash a string of obscenities, but Secretary Yang stopped him halfway through. Turning around, Secretary Yang looked at Tang Wange with a smile, though his eyes were filled with unmistakable menace.
“Miss Tang, I hear that you have always been a recipient of the school scholarship. Graduation is just around the corner. You want everything to go smoothly, don’t you?”
The atmosphere in the office became taut and explosive.
Teacher Cao and the others scarcely dared to breathe. Tang Wange’s face had gone pale as well. She knew that with the Song Group’s power to manipulate everything behind the scenes, they could easily use their connections to revoke her scholarship, or even prevent her from graduating.
She was alone, penniless, and studying was the only path she had left.
Could she really let this matter go?
The justice she had fought so hard to uphold was still no match for the darkness of reality…
Her despair reached its peak.
Then a weight suddenly settled on her shoulder, and she looked up in surprise.
When the top of her head lightly struck Zhao He’s handsome chin, courage suddenly filled her heart.
“It’s true that I want to graduate smoothly. But does Song Jing not want to graduate smoothly too?” Tang Wange abruptly raised her head and stared at them without the slightest intention of backing down. “Song Jing bullied his classmates, the Song Group protected and covered for him, and the school gave in to pressure and allowed his behavior to continue! If news of such a vile incident got out on the eve of the college entrance examinations, wouldn’t everyone involved be humiliated?”
Everyone’s expression changed.
Zhao He merely curved his eyes in silent amusement.
“We never said we intended to protect him!” Teacher Cao hurriedly shook her head and denied it, speaking with righteous indignation. “This matter will certainly be dealt with severely. We’ll see that justice is done for Tang!”
“…”
Secretary Yang’s face darkened. After a long while, he finally snorted through his nose.
“If that’s the case, then we’ll do as Miss Tang wishes. However, Miss Tang, there are still seven months until the college entrance examinations. I hope you can settle down and focus on your studies. It would be unfortunate if anything were to go wrong…”
“You needn’t worry about that, Secretary Yang.”

Zhao He, who had remained silent the entire time, suddenly laughed.
“Over the next seven months, if any flies or mosquitoes disturb our Wange’s peace again, your Song Group will have to change its name to the Funeral Group.”
“And what makes you think you can do that?” Contempt appeared on Secretary Yang’s face.
“What if you count the Lin family as well?”
The newcomer was Lin Chao. His voice was deep and clear as he walked in at an unhurried pace, bringing someone with him.
The Lin family…
Secretary Yang stiffly turned his neck, his face looking as though he had just bitten into a rotten egg.
Across the entire international business world, who would dare provoke the Lin family?
It was not because the Lin family was especially powerful in commerce or politics. Rather, the Lin family’s business dealt in the one thing most taboo throughout every industry.
That was why everyone tacitly understood that offending the Lin family was the greatest possible stroke of bad luck. Once they were targeted, turning the situation around would be nearly impossible.
“What a coincidence. It seems the flood has washed the Dragon King’s temple, and our Song Jing somehow ended up clashing with Young Master Lin?” Secretary Yang forced a smile, his attitude changing completely as he lowered his eyes in humble submission. “There must be some misunderstanding! Our Song Jing was in the wrong this time. He should apologize, and he will apologize. As for the compensation, the Song Group will not withhold a single cent!”
Before anyone could react, Secretary Yang nodded and bowed, grabbed Song Jing by the sleeve, and dragged him out.
“Uncle Yang! Why are you so afraid of them?” Song Jing was still reluctant to leave once they were outside the office.
“The Lin family’s affairs aren’t something I can explain to you in just a few words!”
Secretary Yang did not even turn his head. His tone carried an added edge of reprimand.
“What about Tang Wange’s cousin? I have no idea who he is! The things he said in the office were far too arrogant!” Song Jing followed behind him, gnashing his teeth. “And I can’t shake the feeling that he looks familiar. I think I’ve seen him somewhere before.”
“I’ll send someone to investigate. Graduation is almost here, Young Master Song. All you need to do is study in peace.”
“I understand, Uncle Yang.”
