Chapter 7, Background
Thousands of years ago, there existed a delicate balance between Heaven and Earth. The Immortal Clan dwelled high above in the Nine Heavens, the Demon Clan lurked deep below in the Nine Netherworlds, and humanity flourished upon the land. Yet beneath this serene facade, turbulent undercurrents stirred.
Chi You, the demon god once sealed away, had, by some mysterious arcane means, shattered part of his imprisonment and returned to the world.
His heart brimmed with bitterness over past defeat and disdain for the order of the Three Realms. His towering form exuded a terrifying aura, encircled by black demonic flames that spread darkness wherever he went.
“Hahaha! The order of the Three Realms was always meant to be reshaped by me!” Chi You laughed wildly. Scheming, he sowed discord between the Immortals and Demons.
Within the Lingxiao Palace of the Immortal Clan, the immortals gathered, each radiating ethereal grace, their robes billowing like clouds.
“Chi You’s claim that our clan secretly plunders the Demon Realm’s resources is utterly baseless!” an elder immortal with white hair declared angrily.
“But it seems the Demon Realm has already believed Chi You’s slanders and begun amassing troops along the borders,” a concerned immortal maiden added.
Meanwhile, the Demon Clan’s palace was rife with uproar.
“Those Immortals look down on us all the time. Now they even dare to steal from us? This is intolerable!” roared a demon general with sharp fangs.
As for humanity, facing the impending storm, they found themselves trapped in a dilemma. In a human village, villagers sat together discussing their fate.
“The Immortals have always protected us. Now that there is strife between Immortals and Demons, shouldn’t we side with the Immortals?” an elder stroked his beard thoughtfully.
“But the Demons are formidable as well. If we don’t support them and they win, won’t we face utter destruction?” a young robust man retorted.
Some humans chose not to entangle themselves in the Immortal-Demon conflict and decided to stand alone to defend their homeland.
Soon, war erupted. The armies of Immortals and Demons clashed at the border between the clouds and the netherworld. Magical light illuminated the heavens, while the howls of demonic weapons echoed across the earth.
Humans allied with the Immortals wielded magical treasures bestowed upon them, fighting side by side with the immortals. Their eyes shone with a longing for peace and a steadfast commitment to justice.
“For the peace of the Three Realms, charge!” a human commander shouted, leading the charge against the demon horde.
Those who sided with the Demons fought fiercely within the demon ranks.
“Slay those haughty Immortals!” they cried, voices thick with hatred.
The independent humans fortified their villages.
“We must protect our families. Whether Immortal or Demon, anyone who invades us will face our desperate resistance!” the village chief declared, brandishing a farming tool.
The war raged on, plunging the Three Realms into chaos. Mountains shattered, rivers ran red, and countless lives were lost. The Immortals’ jade palaces burned under demonic flames, while the Demon Clan’s fortress trembled under the assault of immortal spells.
Yet, as the conflict stalemated, some heroes began to uncover Chi You’s deceit.
The Immortals’ sages, by chance, discovered that the so-called evidence of the Immortals’ plundering of the Demon Realm’s resources was fabricated by Chi You himself.
An elder of the Demon Clan also realized that the Immortals had never truly invaded their lands.
Thus, heroes from humanity, immortals, and demons alike resolved to set aside their differences and unite against Chi You.
Beneath the Martial God Altar on War God Mountain, Chi You’s colossal form stood unmoved. He gazed upon the allied forces with contempt and sneered, “Do you think you can defeat me? The Three Realms will be mine sooner or later!”
But the heroes’ strength was formidable. The immortal maidens unleashed dazzling celestial spells, their radiance like the blazing sun. Demon warriors wielded their dark weapons, channeling boundless shadow power. Human heroes, relying on indomitable will and cunning, darted across the battlefield.
After a fierce battle, Chi You was finally defeated. Letting out a roar of unwilling rage, he was driven back beneath the Martial God Altar on War God Mountain and resealed for another thousand years.
With Chi You’s imprisonment renewed, life in the Three Realms gradually revived. The Immortal Clan restored the Lingxiao Palace, and the Demon Clan rebuilt their fortress.
Humans rebuilt their homes amid the ruins, deeply aware that peace was hard-won. They understood that only through greater understanding and tolerance among the Three Realms could such tragedies be averted in the future.
