Volume One, Chapter 50: Jealousy
Fu Yuyan’s gaze drifted over Qin Xianxian before she glanced at the bowl in Fu Yuheng’s hands.
Her face wore a warm, inviting smile, yet an imperceptible trace of malice flickered in her eyes. “Sister Qin, what have you brought Brother? Could you let me have a taste as well?”
Sha Dutian also heard the strange buzzing. He wondered, “I don’t know what’s happening ahead. There was no such sound when I first came in, yet it suddenly appeared now. Could this be a bad omen?” He halted and fixed his eyes on the path before him.
Yufeng could not have been more familiar with this secret chamber: the Imperial Supermarket Chamber. Yet very few people knew of this place. Could one of his own people have betrayed him? Could that really be the case?
In the restroom cubicle, Meng Shi pressed the flush and waited quietly to one side. Once the water stopped running, she pressed the button again before stepping out.
Li Jing’er always felt that she owed him something. Out of respect for her wishes, he refused to force himself upon her, constantly suppressing the desire in his heart. Only someone who truly loved her would be willing to endure such humiliation—especially a man like him, a rare figure who could summon the wind and call down the rain.
Commander Dong was, after all, a man who had witnessed great occasions. Once everyone had spent a long while weighing matters and had more or less calculated everything clearly, he threw his own bargaining chip onto the table.
Dongye Zhancang stared at his arm. His right arm lay exposed beneath the crimson light. At first, nothing changed. It was not until he reached thirteen, then fourteen seconds, that a strange itch began to spread across his skin.
Apart from Han Chen, she also saw the Imperial Guard soldiers lying in pools of blood, howling in agony.
The rehabilitation should have taken at least two or three years, yet it was completed in less than ten months—far ahead of schedule.
Though she had put it that way, she was actually checking whether there were surveillance cameras in the kitchen. Hearing Zhou Shixian’s reaction, Meng Shi identified a safe location.
Without Fu Junyue’s initial guidance, Kou Zhong and Xu Ziling—who had never cultivated inner power—would have been unable to practice even after obtaining the Scripture of Everlasting Life.
“Is Sister Rong the person you care about most?” For some reason, Chi Yaoyue suddenly felt compelled to ask the question.
A faint glimmer passed through Mo Fengye’s eyes. In the next instant, she flashed away, her lithe body nimbly evading the transparent pillar of light that struck first.
Because Ou Zhen was present, more than half of the Ancient Academy’s senior figures—including Gu Minqi—had gathered to watch the examination for junior artifact craftsmen. The countless spectators present were no fools; anyone could guess why they had come.
That was why the enormous negative emotions released by the countless powerful beings who had died within the Spirit-Slaughtering Thousand Transformations Array had left an indelible impression on them. They had personally experienced the despair and agony those beings had felt, and none of them could remain calm in the face of it. They had even wanted to avenge them, dispelling their resentment and easing their suffering.
The moment those people heard this, they exploded. Every one of them sprang up with a dark expression, pointing at Qiu Liang and Master Su.
At this point, Qi Changlin had not yet fallen into darkness. The distortion in his heart was not especially severe—there was merely something faintly pathological about him. He had simply concealed it so well that no one else could see it.
Liang Qian rubbed her tangled, freshly washed hair and slowly sat up in bed.
Afraid that she would have too much free time and begin recalling unpleasant memories, Ye Shuli kept pestering Rong Xi to prepare medicine for her.
That was right. No one had expected that the spirit formation disguised as a barrier of spiritual power was itself the true deception, meant to conceal something. And since it was an illusion formation, how could the Hall of the Strong within it possibly be real?
“Wonderful!” The crowd gathered around erupted into delighted cheers at the sight.
