Chapter Five: Luo Yunmian, your taste is truly abysmal.
“Hello, President Fu.”
She no longer called him Brother Ting Shen.
Fu Tingshen paused, phone in hand, frowning slightly in unfamiliar discomfort.
“Yunmian, it’s already 8:30. Why aren’t you at the office yet?”
Luo Yunmian glanced at the time displayed on her phone and silently cursed Fu Yanchi for his relentless torment yesterday.
Clearing her throat, she feigned calmness, “I wasn’t feeling well yesterday.”
“Then rest at home today. I was originally going on a business trip and wanted you to come along.”
“I can go; my health is fine,” Luo Yunmian replied without hesitation.
Going on the trip was better than facing Fu Yanchi’s unpredictable temper. As for Fu Tingshen’s betrayal, she felt she had exacted her revenge.
She was someone who never let things go. As for the engagement, she couldn’t back out just yet—her grandmother was in poor health, and she didn’t want to worry the old lady.
After hanging up, Luo Yunmian felt like she had narrowly escaped disaster.
Anxiously, she donned her trench coat and took the back garden path to her residence.
After some careful selection, she picked out several outfits.
She quickly freshened up. Once everything was in order, she deliberately put on a turtleneck sweatshirt, paired with blue jeans, and layered a trench coat over it.
Dressed, she stood before the mirror, scrutinizing every angle, repeatedly checking until she was certain the mark on her neck—something she wished to conceal—would remain hidden. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Confident, she picked up her suitcase.
The driver was already waiting downstairs; Luo Yunmian dared not waste a moment.
When Fu Yanchi woke up, he noticed that Luo Yunmian was nowhere to be found in the room or the villa.
He asked Aunt Liu and learned that Luo Yunmian had gone on a business trip with Fu Tingshen.
His fist clenched involuntarily, his eyes filled with loneliness.
“So, Yunmian, you’re abandoning me again? Don’t want me anymore?”
He thought of the red mark on the bed when he awoke, and his eyes softened with a flicker of tenderness.
Even if she fled in panic, Yunmian could only be his.
“Zhuang Bo, help me track Luo Yunmian. I want to know her business trip destination and hotel.”
Fu Yanchi’s voice was commanding, leaving no room for argument.
“Are you serious? You want me, a top hacker, to track a woman’s whereabouts?”
Zhuang Bo’s incredulous voice came through the phone.
“Less chatter, just do it!”
“Alright, wait—did you say Luo Yunmian?”
Zhuang Bo’s voice suddenly rose several octaves.
“What the hell are you up to? Trying to steal your brother’s girl?”
“Yes.”
Zhuang Bo was drinking water when he heard this and immediately sprayed it all over his laptop, scrambling to wipe it off.
Was it really that exciting?
“You almost wrecked my computer!”
Ten minutes later, Fu Yanchi, reading the information in a text message, made another call.
“Book me a plane ticket...”
———
At this moment, Luo Yunmian was flying to Country F on China Eastern Airlines.
She hadn’t expected Shen Xin’er to be on the plane as well, and a sudden urge to strangle herself overwhelmed her.
Was she a masochist?
She glanced at Fu Tingshen; a trace of bitterness lingered in her eyes.
He was radiant, and Shen Xin’er, sitting beside him, was coquettishly alluring, her whole body leaning toward Fu Tingshen, almost resting her head on him.
Luo Yunmian sneered coldly. Just as she was about to move to a seat further ahead, Shen Xin’er stood up with a false, friendly smile.
“Miss Shen, would you like to take this seat?”
Luo Yunmian cast a disdainful glance at the spot Shen Xin’er had vacated.
“No, I’ll sit up front.”
She refused to sit where the seat had been sullied.
Without looking back, she strode toward the front seat.
Yesterday’s memories still haunted her mind.
Fu Tingshen’s betrayal and her impulsive revenge floated like passing clouds.
That was her first time, but Fu Tingshen didn’t cherish it.
Now, she had given what she considered precious to his younger brother, not knowing how Fu Tingshen would feel if he ever found out.
Probably indifferent—because he didn’t love her.
Unbidden, Luo Yunmian recalled how Fu Yanchi had restrained himself with her yesterday, yet later she had involuntarily started to reciprocate.
In front of that young man, she had long since fallen apart.
Her cheeks burned hot again, wishing she could disappear into the earth.
And his whispered murmurs in her ear throughout the night, calling her “Sister Mianmian” over and over.
His voice was tender and lingering, making her whole body tingle.
That was why she fled in panic.
Shaking her head to suppress the thoughts, Luo Yunmian had just sat down when Shen Xin’er’s aggrieved voice came from the back seat.
“Ting Shen, do you think Miss Luo is angry with me?”
“No, Yunmian isn’t that petty,” Fu Tingshen answered confidently.
Such a perfect white lotus—at 35, she was a master of coquettish charm.
Luo Yunmian found the noise annoying.
She decisively pulled a Bluetooth headset from her pocket, inserted it, then put on an eye mask, leaning back in her seat to rest.
After all, the little wolf disguised as a docile puppy named Fu Yanchi had exhausted her yesterday.
Luo Yunmian was truly tired and had no patience for Shen Xin’er’s pretenses, just wanting to use this time to rest.
The group had arrived at the reserved hotel at 1 a.m. There were four people on the trip; Fu Tingshen had brought a male assistant as well.
All four rooms were adjacent. Luo Yunmian greeted briefly and entered her room.
———
The next evening, eight o’clock.
In a luxurious private room with soft lighting, Fu Tingshen raised his wine glass, engaging fluently in French with a business partner.
Luo Yunmian wore a white turtleneck dress, pure and elegant, while Shen Xin’er donned a striking red bodycon dress, radiating seductive charm.
They sat on either side of Fu Tingshen, creating a pleasing tableau.
The man joked in French with Fu Tingshen.
“President Fu, you’reI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
