Chapter 51 Hesitating and Indecisive
When Xiang Sixuan arrived, Nie Yunyang and Miao Ye were busy tidying up a private dining suite because a VIP member was expected to arrive that evening.
Miao Ye had specifically warned Nie Yunyang that this distinguished guest was a neat freak suffering from severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, so the suite had to be cleaned to absolute perfection.
The receptionist called and asked Nie Yunyang to go to Suite Yi. The Grand Splendor featured a total of ten private suites, named after the Ten Heavenly Stems; the more prestigious the guest, the closer the suite's designation was to the beginning of the sequence.
Nie Yunyang knocked on the door and, upon hearing Xiang Sixuan's voice, stepped inside. Today, she had discarded her black uniform in favor of casual wear.
"Miss Xiang, did you ask for me?" Nie Yunyang inquired.
As one of the top members of the Grand Splendor, Xiang Sixuan held little regard for Nie Yunyang and said casually, "I heard from little Tao that you are well-versed in antiques and cultural relics?"
"I know a thing or two," Nie Yunyang replied.
He did understand a bit about those items, but he had never seriously studied them. That brat Xiang Tao really had a knack for bringing up inconvenient topics.
Looking thoughtful, Xiang Sixuan asked, "Where did you go to university?"
"To my shame, I never went to university," Nie Yunyang answered.
Surprised, Xiang Sixuan continued, "You are young. Instead of going out to make something of yourself, why are you drifting along here and wasting time?"
"The pay is high, and the benefits are good," Nie Yunyang said.
Xiang Sixuan remained silent for a moment before saying, "Little Tao mentioned that he is very interested in the antiques and cultural relics here at the Grand Splendor. Take him around for a look, and once you're done, take him straight home. I will inform President Dai."
"Understood," Nie Yunyang said.
Xiang Tao followed Nie Yunyang out with a cheeky grin. Xiang Sixuan always felt there was something peculiar about the two of them, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Once outside, Nie Yunyang teased, "Young Master Xiang, this way please!"
"Nie Yunyang, cut the nonsense. Are you going to help me with that matter or not? If you can't do it, I'll find someone else," Xiang Tao demanded.
Nie Yunyang raised an eyebrow. "You don't trust me?"
"I just feel like you're not a reliable guy. If you were really that impressive, how could you possibly end up as a waiter at the Grand Splendor?" Xiang Tao retorted.
Nie Yunyang led Xiang Tao to the exhibition hall on the first floor of the main building. Whenever someone passed by, he would introduce the collected antiques, having previously reviewed a detailed inventory of the Grand Splendor's collection.
"After committing murder and arson, a person always needs to find a place to hide out. A kid like you doesn't know a damn thing," Nie Yunyang remarked.
"Then tell me, what should I do?"
Xiang Tao didn't care about being beaten up by a mob, but losing face in front of a woman he liked was completely unacceptable.
Of course, he didn't dare tell his parents about this; otherwise, he would undoubtedly receive a severe beating!
With a half-smile, Nie Yunyang said, "When did I ever say I would help you? Besides, what's in it for me if I do?"
"Damn it, I even introduced my aunt to you, and you're still not satisfied?" Xiang Tao blurted out, looking as agitated as a dog whose tail had been stepped on.
Unimpressed, Nie Yunyang replied, "My dear brother, what kind of reward is that? A woman like your aunt—if she were so easily won, she wouldn't have so many admirers eyeing her. What you're offering is absolute nonsense."
"Hmph, if you don't help me, I won't let this go. I'll have my aunt file a complaint against you," Xiang Tao threatened.
Nie Yunyang sneered. "Kid, it looks like your skin is itching for another beating."
"Brother, let's talk this out. A gentleman uses his words, not his fists. I was wrong," Xiang Tao quickly conceded.
Nie Yunyang shrugged. "It's not entirely out of the question for me to help you. I haven't thought of my reward yet, but once I do this for you, you must keep it a secret."
"Don't worry, my lips are sealed," Xiang Tao swore solemnly, though he suddenly recalled something and asked, "Wait, can you really handle those sports majors?"
Nie Yunyang immediately changed his tune. "Believe it or not, get lost."
"Fine, I'll trust you this once," Xiang Tao said.
"Give me all their photos and addresses, and leave the rest to me. It won't be long before they behave like good little boys when they see you, and they will never dare bother you again."
Handling this kind of task was second nature to Nie Yunyang. He could simply hand it over to Chen Jiong and Tan Weibo without even needing to get his hands dirty.
Half-doubtful, Xiang Tao ultimately decided to send the photos and addresses to Nie Yunyang's phone.
After wandering around for two hours, Xiang Tao grew somewhat tired and asked Nie Yunyang to drive him home, offering to treat him to a meal along the way.
After notifying He Lei, Nie Yunyang and Xiang Tao came out, intending to leave in Xiang Sixuan's Mercedes-AMG S63, but they witnessed an unexpected scene.
In the parking lot, Hou Feipeng, the deputy security manager of the Grand Splendor, was arguing fiercely with Dai Zhenxuan, both of them red in the face.
Moments later, Hou Feipeng pleaded desperately, "President Dai, lend me another two million. Just two million. I swear, this is the last time."
"Old Hou, have you still not learned your lesson? If the big boss finds out you're mixed up in gambling, do you know what the consequences will be?" Dai Zhenxuan scolded angrily.
Terrified out of his wits, Hou Feipeng begged, "President Dai, please don't mention this to the big boss. If you do, he'll definitely fire me."
"Even if I don't say anything, do you think the big boss is blind? Old Hou, everyone has seen the state you've been in lately. If you don't want to incur the big boss's wrath, I advise you to go and offer a humble apology. As long as the big boss is willing to forgive you, everything else can be worked out," Dai Zhenxuan said helplessly.
Shivering all over, Hou Feipeng stammered, "President Dai, if the big boss finds out about this, he'll kill me."
Just then, Xiang Tao let out a sneeze.
Cursing his bad luck inwardly, Nie Yunyang put on a brave face, walked over with Xiang Tao, and smiled awkwardly, "President Dai, Manager Hou, are you two discussing something?"
"Yunyang, were you eavesdropping on us?" Dai Zhenxuan glared at him furiously.
Feigning composure, Nie Yunyang replied, "President Dai, you've misunderstood. Miss Xiang asked me to take her nephew home. As for what you two were just talking about, I genuinely didn't hear a word."
"Very well. Since it's a request from a member, get going then," Dai Zhenxuan instructed.
Hearing this, Nie Yunyang hurriedly pulled Xiang Tao away, a tempest raging in his heart.
No wonder he had felt something was amiss when he previously bumped into Hou Feipeng; it turned out this fellow had been running wild outside and had accumulated a mountain of gambling debts.
However, what gave Nie Yunyang a headache was that he couldn't be certain whether Dai Zhenxuan actually believed his excuse.
Furthermore, should he report this matter to Cao Weihua?
Glancing through the rearview mirror at the two figures still bickering intensely in the parking lot, Nie Yunyang felt a throbbing headache as he struggled to make a decision.
