Chapter 15: The Heiress’s Command

Tang Jianing’s words immediately cast a grave expression over Tang Liqian’s face.
“Explain the situation in detail!”
Tang Jianing proceeded to describe the events that had unfolded tonight at the abandoned warehouse, then pressed her fingers against her forehead.
“My original plan was to leverage the booming tourism industry in Shancheng to establish a large-scale night market and commercial center.”
“But with these corpses turning up, that’s completely out of the question, and there’s no way to keep this many deaths under wraps.”
She paused briefly, then after considering the boundaries of the land, her eyes suddenly lit up.
“I’ll see what the criminal investigation team thinks. If they’re okay with it, I’ll convert this place into a large haunted house, specifically for tourists from out of town.”
“You handle it as you see fit. Let me know if you need funding.”
Since Tang Jianing had a plan, Tang Liqian had no intention of interfering.
After all, this half of the empire he built was ultimately destined to be handed over to Tang Jianing. Even if it became her dowry in the future, no one could take it away from the daughter.
Now that his daughter had ideas and was willing to undertake a project, as a father, he wholeheartedly approved!
In recent years, Shancheng had leveraged its characteristic heavy snowfalls in the northeast to steadily increase tourist numbers year after year.
Building a dedicated recreational area for tourists on such a vast piece of land, regardless of the profits, Tang Liqian was confident it could at least break even.
If the case was resolved smoothly, a haunted house themed around the incident would definitely immerse visitors in the experience.
After a brief, casual chat with Tang Liqian, the old man was visibly struggling, stifling several yawns in succession.
“If you’re tired, go sleep. You’re not seventeen or eighteen anymore, you know?”
“Oh come on, haven’t you heard? Men die young!”
“If you don’t go, your daily drink will be cut to just one or two liang!”
“Alright, alright, I’m going!”
Old Tang was particular about many things, but his daily two liang of liquor was indispensable.
It used to be half a jin a day, but ever since Tang Jianing intercepted his hospital physical report once, it was reduced to two liang daily.
Tang Liqian had protested to Tang Jianing many times, but the outcome was that he almost lost even that small allowance.
After seeing Tang Liqian head upstairs, Tang Jianing leaned back on the sofa and fixed her gaze on Da Hu standing outside the door.
“Speak. What’s going on?”
Normally, after she returned to the villa, Da Hu wouldn’t need to be on guard anymore.

But since he was still here, it could only mean one thing: something serious was afoot.
“There’s been a lot of talk lately in the overseas branch about opening a new branch hall. The number of our younger brothers has increased, and the existing halls are struggling to keep up.”
Glancing at Tang Jianing’s steady expression, Da Hu continued.
“I think this kind of matter should be discussed with the boss himself—he’s the founder of the organization after all.”
“No need. His blood pressure has been high recently. Don’t upset him.”
After a brief pause, Tang Jianing resumed.
“Pick someone from the vice hall leaders to establish the Baxia branch hall. If those old dogs don’t behave, clean a few out to set them straight.”
“Understood!”
“Anything else?”
“No, just that.”
Da Hu thought carefully. Now that the situation was stabilizing on all fronts, there wasn’t much else to worry about.
The main concern was those old comrades who had fought alongside Tang Liqian to build the empire. Some had become blinded by greed after sitting on their thrones too long.
But as long as Tang Liqian, the steady anchor, was around, no serious trouble would arise overseas.
Plus, with Tang Jianing’s own formidable skills, this father and daughter duo could easily maintain their underground throne in the country for another forty years.
“Since you’re not busy, here’s a task for you.”
“Yes, Miss!”
“Have your men investigate the universities and colleges in Shancheng, focusing on female university students who have gone missing over the past three years, aged between twenty and twenty-three.”
Although the criminal investigation team was working on it, Tang Jianing had not given up.
Forensic resources were limited, and rather than waiting for them to find clues about the remains, it was better to take proactive steps.
With a network cloaked in darkness, their intelligence sources were actually far wider than the police’s.
“I’ll dispatch the order immediately!”
Thinking of the young women who had died tragically in the warehouse, Da Hu’s face darkened with anger.
Even if Tang Jianing didn’t intervene, Da Hu would still step in to seek justice for those girls.
“Get to work.”
After waving Da Hu out, Tang Jianing again sank onto the sofa and began scrolling through her laptop.

In truth, aside from the victims’ identities, there was little else to uncover.
The non-primary crime scenes left few traces, and although the killer harbored a perverse desire to murder, he was extremely cautious.
Clues from the skeletal remains were scarce, and what puzzled Tang Jianing most was how so many university students could be connected to someone in the construction industry.
As Tang Jianing sat pondering the case on the sofa, Da Hu quickly departed with several security team members, heading straight to the territory controlled by Seventh Lord.
Such investigations were not realistic for them to conduct alone without support from overseas brothers.
But Seventh Lord, as a local power, had underlings scattered around internet cafes and KTVs near universities, making him the ideal person to assist.
Seventh Lord was no spring chicken; although nominally he was of the same generation as Tang Liqian, that only referred to their rise to power.
In reality, Seventh Lord was at least in his sixties.
His bones were nearly falling apart after the recent turmoil caused by Tang Jianing’s affairs, and before he could rest, Da Hu arrived with a group, brimming with urgency.
If not for his somewhat resilient heart, tonight’s hospital morgue might have had one more elderly death from sudden cardiac arrest.
“Seventh Lord, the Miss has given an order and needs your help.”
“Da Hu, with our relationship, a phone call would’ve sufficed. Why come in person?”
“It’s the Miss’s command. It’s very important!”
Da Hu glanced at Seventh Lord, emphasizing the gravity once more.
Upon hearing this, sweat broke out on Seventh Lord’s brow.
Compared to Tang Liqian’s straightforward approach, this Miss of the Tang family was truly formidable.
Silently and unseen, one could die without ever knowing how.
The thought of how, during her first year at university, she had already reshaped the entire underground landscape of Shancheng made Seventh Lord shudder involuntarily.
“What orders does the Miss have?”
“Have your men investigate the universities nearby—Shancheng University and any colleges. Look into female students who have disappeared in the last three years.”
“I need a detailed list, including precise times and thorough background information.”
“How long will it take to complete this?”
