Chapter Fifteen: What Is Lost and Found Is True Completion.

Mei Xiulan thrust something into Lin Chen’s hand and said, “Junior brother, don’t refuse. I’ve reached the rank of Minor Grandmaster now; these won’t be of much use anymore. Besides, the temple is filled with heavenly treasures and earthly riches!”
“Alright! Thank you, senior sister,” Lin Chen replied gratefully.
“You’re my only junior brother, so don’t bother with formalities,” Mei Xiulan said.
What she said was true. From Minor Grandmaster to Grandmaster, these merit coins were practically useless. The only way forward was to gather various heavenly treasures and earthly riches to accumulate to Grandmaster level. After that, one awaited enlightenment to pass through the Thunder Tribulation.
Success would mean ascending to the higher realms, becoming an immortal. Failure would result in death and the dissolution of one’s Dao, leaving behind various secret realms.
Some spent their entire lives unable to attain enlightenment, while others, upon stepping into Grandmaster, could achieve sudden insight and ascend with one move.
Naturally, there were also those who deliberately suppressed their ascension. It was said that the Sovereign of Radiant Light did just that to protect his sect.
That’s how the Radiant Light Sanctuary became the top sect in the cultivation world. However, the world generally disapproved of the Sovereign’s choice. Many considered refusing ascension and withdrawing to the mortal realm a cowardly act.
Lin Chen opened his storage pouch and glanced inside. There were over eight hundred merit coins—a considerable fortune. After all, in over ten years at the Peach Blossom Temple, he had never held more than a dozen merit coins at once.
Eight hundred merit coins were once an unattainable dream, and now seeing so many before him stirred his excitement.
Merit coins were the universal currency of cultivation here, equivalent to spirit stones in other systems—but unlike spirit stones, merit coins had no rank.
In addition, there was a manual of cultivation techniques. Lin Chen tossed the manual aside without hesitation and then slipped the storage pouch into his sleeve.
Mei Xiulan looked puzzled. “Junior brother, that’s the technique from the Falling Clothes Valley, a high-grade art. Why discard it?”
“Such a technique easily attracts unwanted attention. If anyone finds out, it’ll be trouble,” Lin Chen patiently explained.
Mei Xiulan nodded. “True, you’ve thought this through carefully. Let’s go.”
If someone could spar evenly with Minor Grandmaster Mei Xiulan, their status within the sect would not be low. Using the techniques he had cultivated, anyone observant could tell.
With his current cultivation, he still couldn’t afford to offend a major sect. Falling Clothes Valley wasn’t as powerful as Radiant Light Sanctuary, but it was not a sect a mere novice priest would dare provoke.
“Junior brother, look!” Mei Xiulan pointed ahead.
“Senior sister, I can’t see anything. What is it?” Lin Chen said helplessly.

Mei Xiulan smiled awkwardly. “There’s a Golden House just ahead.”
“A Golden House? Let’s go take a look,” the two said, stepping closer.
Before them stood a medium-sized Golden House. Under the sunlight, it gleamed brilliantly. The door was tightly shut.
Mei Xiulan tried to push the door, but no matter how hard she pushed, it didn’t budge.
Left with no choice, they circled the house, searching for an entrance.
Apparently, there was none. The entire structure was sealed tightly, like a model made entirely of gold.
Seeing this, the two had no choice but to give up. Since Mei Xiulan couldn’t open it, Lin Chen didn’t even try.
Next to the Golden House, they caught a few fish from a small stream—two fish weighing about a pound each.
They built a fire nearby and grilled the fish. Soon, a golden-brown aroma wafted through the air.
While they were devouring the fish, four familiar figures approached from a short distance away.
Qin Hao forced a smile and said, “Senior brother, you came to the secret realm too?”
Lin Chen frowned but said nothing, continuing to eat by himself.
Hearing this, Mei Xiulan was somewhat surprised, then smiled and said, “Greetings, senior sister.”
Su Xiangling waved her hand dismissively, then turned to the silent Lin Chen and said, “Junior brother! I’ve been so good to you. How can you be so ungrateful? Do you even know how much I’ve helped you these days?”
Before Lin Chen could answer, Qin Hao smiled and said, “Senior sister, don’t blame Senior Brother Lin. He must be going through a tough time recently. I’m fine.”
“No award for you, what a pity,” Lin Chen said coldly.
“You useless thing, what do you mean? Junior brother has been so kind to you, yet you always target him,” Su Xiangling scolded with a stern face.
“Senior sister, let’s go check that Golden House. Senior brother is just having a moment of weakness. Don’t quarrel on my account—it makes me feel bad,” Qin Hao said, his expression shifting.
“Junior brother… you… sigh! I really don’t know what’s worthy about this useless guy for you to treat him so well. Let’s go! Let’s go!” Su Xiangling suppressed her anger and strode toward the Golden House.
After they left, Mei Xiulan quietly asked, “Junior brother, I think Qin is quite good to you. Why are you like this toward him?”
Lin Chen shook his head. “Senior sister, be careful around him. He’s not as innocent as he seems. Every time I get beaten up, he’s the one behind it. I’ve told them, but they don’t believe me.”
Mei Xiulan was shocked. “I didn’t expect him to be such a sinister person!”

Lin Chen nodded in response. “Enough, they’re back. Seems like they still can’t open the door.”
Mei Xiulan turned to look—and indeed, they had returned.
“Fourth junior sister, we’re leaving. If you stay with this useless one, he’ll only drag you down. Come with us!” Ye Ling’er stepped forward.
“No need, you all go ahead. I’ll catch up with junior brother and reminisce a bit,” Mei Xiulan said calmly.
Ye Ling’er snorted coldly. “Hmph! If you get harmed, don’t say senior sister didn’t warn you.”
Mei Xiulan smiled. “Second senior sister, take care.”
Lin Chen also rose. “If you don’t go with them, you might be isolated later, senior sister.”
“Don’t worry, I don’t need them. Besides, I’m already a Minor Grandmaster now. No need to care about them,” Mei Xiulan smiled.
“All right! Then we’ll leave too!” The two of them turned and walked in the opposite direction.
Passing by the Golden House, Lin Chen instinctively reached out to touch its golden door.
The next moment, an astonishing scene unfolded. The golden door slowly opened at his touch.
But looking inside, it was empty.
At that moment, a mechanical voice echoed in Lin Chen’s ear:
“Merit +1”
“Merit +1”
“Merit +1”
The merit-increasing sound repeated continuously. Lin Chen felt both delighted and annoyed.
To him, this was an unparalleled treasure, but it was a pity if it couldn’t be taken out of the secret realm.
After Mei Xiulan looked around inside the house, she said somewhat disappointedly, “Junior brother, it seems like there’s nothing here.”
“No... this Golden House is worth dozens of times more than those heavenly treasures to me. I can cultivate here with twice the efficiency,” Lin Chen shook his head and said.
