"I still want to live a few more years," he thought, "and besides, I have no idea what Xie Mengmeng actually looks like."

They say that one’s appearance reflects the heart; someone as ruthless as her probably wouldn’t be very beautiful either, so it’s best to keep a distance.

“I didn’t expect you to choose this path. Let’s go and see if there’s an exit. This place is a hundred miles of plain on all sides; it feels like being thrown into a giant pit, making it hard to escape,” Lin Chen said with some surprise.

He then continued walking forward. Xie Mengmeng watched Lin Chen’s retreating figure thoughtfully, murmuring softly, “This is truly an unexpected gain.” She quickly followed closely behind.

After an unknown amount of time, not far ahead, many men and women who were also trapped here wandered about in confusion.

Upon seeing Lin Chen and the others, they began whispering among themselves.

“How did even third-tier cultivators end up here?”

“Yeah! And there’s a blind man too. This is basically a death sentence!”

While the crowd murmured back and forth, a graceful woman resembling a heavenly fairy stepped briskly forward.

Wearing a gentle smile, she waved at Lin Chen and said, “Junior Brother Lin, long time no see. How have you been lately?”

As Mei Xiulan spoke, the murmurs behind her abruptly ceased.

Lin Chen smiled faintly in response. “Quite well! Senior Sister Mei, you’re here too.”

He remained calm and unbothered by the whispers, as if he hadn’t heard them.

Mei Xiulan hesitated a little before saying, “Junior Brother Lin, I’m sorry, I…”

Lin Chen quickly interrupted, “Senior Sister, don’t say that. In my heart, you’ve always been the best senior sister and my only one.”

Mei Xiulan’s eyes glistened with moisture. Forcedly smiling, she said, “Good! As long as Junior Brother Lin is safe, that’s what matters!”

Honestly, seeing Lin Chen doing well now truly made Mei Xiulan happy deep down.

After some polite inquiries, Lin Chen asked, “Senior Sister, how long have you been wandering here? Have you found an exit?”

Mei Xiulan shook her head helplessly. “No! It feels like some kind of formation. No matter how we walk, we never see the edge. We simply can’t get out.”

Lin Chen pondered with his hand on his chin, frowning deeply, his face full of worry. “This is strange. A formation should be offensive. Trapping us here doesn’t benefit this secret realm at all.”

“Indeed. It feels more like a man-made formation,” Mei Xiulan nodded in agreement.

“A man-made one…?” Lin Chen furrowed his brow, feeling the wind direction. He muttered, “Could it be set up to kill people and seize treasures?”

If that were true, their situation would be extremely dangerous.

Lin Chen’s expression grew serious as he addressed the group. “Fellow cultivators, we may have stepped into a formation. Let’s work together to find the core and dismantle it, so we can leave quickly.”

Mei Xiulan and Xie Mengmeng both nodded in agreement.

Just then, a discordant voice interrupted, “Why should we trust a mere third-tier blind man like you? Besides, we don’t feel any danger here.”

The speaker was a middle-aged lone cultivator with a black mole on his forehead, looking at Lin Chen with disdain.

As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd’s attitude shifted instantly.

“This senior brother is right! If there really was a formation, something would have triggered by now.”

“If you want to wait here until the secret realm closes, go ahead. No one’s forcing you,” Mei Xiulan retorted sharply.

Lin Chen was not surprised by their murmurs. Most of them were seventh or eighth-tier cultivators who saw him as an insignificant ant.

“Big brother, why don’t we discuss a strategy together? I’m sure you have a better plan,” Xie Mengmeng coquettishly said to the man who spoke up, batting her bright, moonlit eyes.

The man’s face immediately darkened with ill intentions, his expression revealing what was on his mind.

He quickly plastered on a smile and said warmly, “You truly are a clever lady. Let’s go discuss this properly.”

In no time, they embraced and disappeared into the grass.

Xie Mengmeng took the initiative, quickly removing her clothes to reveal her flawless, jade-like figure, then carefully laid down.

She blinked her bright, moonlike eyes at the man, who was already overwhelmed by desire.

His mouth went dry; he no longer thought clearly and pounced on her like a starving wolf.

Soon, inappropriate moans came from the grass. As time passed, the man’s voice grew weaker.

Xie Mengmeng flipped from beneath him to on top, continuously moving her proud figure.

The man’s complexion turned pale as paper, lips cracked, utterly weakened.

By the time he realized something was wrong, he was too weak to resist. Xie Mengmeng toyed with him relentlessly.

Finally, overwhelmed by boundless terror mixed with fleeting pleasure, he slowly closed his eyes and died.

Meanwhile, Lin Chen frowned but ignored them, turning to Mei Xiulan. “Senior Sister, let’s scout ahead.”

“All right!” Mei Xiulan nodded.

She thought to herself that it was a good chance to stay close to Junior Brother Lin. If she followed him out, those other senior sisters might cause trouble again. It was safer by his side.

While the two searched for the formation’s core, a satisfied Xie Mengmeng slowly approached.

Lin Chen didn’t ask about what had happened just now, knowing that if Mei Xiulan learned Xie Mengmeng was from the Hehuan Sect, she’d likely attack her without hesitation.

Still, Lin Chen could guess roughly what had happened. That man was probably overwhelmed to death.

“You thought he had a good idea, so why did you come back?” Mei Xiulan said coldly.

“He was just a useless brute with no special skills, and I wasn’t satisfied. So I had to come back,” Xie Mengmeng said, wiping her flushed cheek.

Lin Chen felt awkward hearing this, as if she was describing their inappropriate “battle experience,” which made him uneasy.

“Hmph! No backbone at all,” Mei Xiulan scoffed coldly.

“Senior Sister, she just misjudged him. Let it go!” Lin Chen hurriedly interrupted, not wanting them to argue further.

Finally, after relentless effort, they found the formation core and prepared to break it.

Suddenly, someone shouted angrily, “Stop! Don’t let them escape! They’re monsters from the Hehuan Sect!”

At these words, everyone gasped in shock, especially the male cultivators, who eyed Lin Chen and the others warily.

Lin Chen glanced at Xie Mengmeng with annoyance. “You’re good at eating but can’t even wipe your mouth properly. Well done!”

Xie Mengmeng blushed deeply, whispering in complaint, “I clearly buried him already. How did this happen?”

“What do you mean? Just because of your words, we’re branded as Hehuan Sect monsters? Isn’t that naive?” Mei Xiulan said angrily.

“Still denying it!” The man threw out a shriveled corpse — the same man who had entered the grass with Xie Mengmeng.

He continued, “The evidence is clear. What excuse do you have now?”

Seeing this, Mei Xiulan instinctively stepped back, distancing herself from Xie Mengmeng.

She had clearly seen the man leave with Xie Mengmeng, and now he was a dried-up corpse. It was no wonder she was suspicious.

“Senior Sister, don’t be afraid!” Lin Chen shouted loudly, “That person is actually from the Hehuan Sect. I used special means to check — he’s a woman.”

Lin Chen thought that given how timely this man’s appearance was, he was likely the master of this formation.

Otherwise, how could he have found the corpse so quickly and appeared at such a perfect moment?

With this in mind, Lin Chen decided to throw dirt back at him. If he could provoke the man into making a mistake, others would suspect him, possibly freeing them from the current predicament.
