Chapter 60 A Firewall A Century Ahead

Looking at the operating system running entirely in Chinese characters, Ye Guhong and the others were so shocked that they were completely at a loss for words.

Although they had believed it possible that Lin Yang might be able to develop a computer operating system, they had never dared to imagine that Lin Yang had actually gone so far as to modify the text encoding of the system itself!

This was simply too exaggerated!

Because operating systems originated in Western nations, the default global encoding language was naturally a foreign tongue.

All program compilations were based on and developed around foreign languages.

Under such circumstances, wanting to change the encoding language meant breaking the rules of the entire world!

Naturally, Western nations would never permit such a situation to arise. Consequently, over all these years, no operating systems in any other language had ever emerged, let alone developed.

Western nations firmly controlled the entire ecosystem of operating systems. This meant that even if an operating system in another language were to appear, it would have zero possibility of surviving and developing.

In particular, leveraging their technological monopoly over chips, they had directly locked down the language at the hardware level.

Even if another language popped up, in order for it to run properly, it still had to be translated into a foreign language first!

No matter what language was used, it had to be converted into a foreign language beforehand; otherwise, the hardware would not support the operation of any other language system at all. This ultimately led to fewer and fewer people even attempting to program in a second language.

Under these various restrictions and technological blockades, encoding in any other language became an extremely difficult task.

Not only did one have to break through the hardware-level blockade, but one also had to rebuild the corresponding linguistic ecosystem from scratch.

However, relying on a century-old technological advantage, how unimaginably difficult would it be to rebuild an entire language ecosystem!

Moreover, those fellows in the Western nations would never allow such a thing to happen; the moment any sign of it appeared, it would be nipped in the bud.

Gradually, no other language was ever given the chance to become a new programming language.

After all, breaking through hardware-level technological blockades was not something that could be easily accomplished.

Rebuilding a language ecosystem was even more difficult than ascending to the heavens.

Of course, aside from these external factors, there was yet another problem: as an advanced language, Chinese was far too flexible and variable in its phrasing. The slightest ambiguity would lead to semantic confusion, exponentially increasing the difficulty of program maintenance.

Furthermore, under the systemic language environment created by the West, the composition of Chinese characters differed from foreign words. For the exact same piece of code, Chinese required more bytes and occupied a larger storage space, which would invisibly increase various extra costs and hardware consumption.

It would also exert a certain negative impact on the computer's processing speed.

Therefore, turning Chinese into an operating system was a task of supreme difficulty.

Yet right now, Lin Yang had directly created a complete compilation operating system written entirely in Chinese!

And by some unknown method, not a single piece of code suffered from semantic fuzziness or ambiguity.

Even the major drawback of excessively large storage space had been directly resolved!

Such a massive operating system surprisingly occupied only half the storage space of foreign language systems!

This left Ye Guhong and the others completely dumbfounded with shock!

Even more absurdly, this operating system actually came with a built-in super firewall.

Unlike conventional security software bundled within ordinary systems, this super firewall was directly embedded into the system itself, forming an integral part of its operation!

Ye Guhong and his team did not fully grasp the technical difficulty of this feat, so they immediately summoned the relevant security experts from the Academy of Sciences to conduct security testing.

And the test results pushed Ye Guhong and the others to the absolute pinnacle of shock.

Because...

"According to preliminary estimates, the security technology of the super firewall built into this system is at least a century ahead of ours. Currently, it is safe to say that not a single virus software across the entire planet can bypass this firewall to damage the system!"

The words of the security expert fell like a thunderbolt from a clear sky.

Security technology at least a century ahead!!

How could this fail to astonish them?

"Is that person's mastery of computer science truly this exaggerated?"

Even though they had long known that Lin Yang possessed formidable technical prowess in computer science, hearing an expert state firsthand that it was at least a century ahead was still profoundly shocking!

Instantly, Zhao Zizhen asked with a tingling scalp, "If no virus software can breach it, what about a team of hackers?"

"This... Dean, I believe you can rest easy on that front. With security technology that is at least a hundred years ahead, there is currently not a single hacker team in existence capable of reaching such a standard."

The security expert smiled bitterly.

"Even the hacker teams of the most powerful nations like the United States and the Winter Country are at most two or three decades ahead of us, but this is a technological lead of a full century at the very least!"

"The logic behind this super firewall leaves me somewhat baffled. It is utterly impossible for any hacker team to infiltrate it!"

"It's that powerful?" Zhao Zizhen, Ye Guhong, and the others felt another surge of profound shock in their hearts.

"Yes. If the Dean is still concerned, I can lead my team to launch an attack test!"

A sudden urge to challenge the system welled up within the security expert.

"Alright, give it a try." Zhao Zizhen immediately nodded.

On Ye Guhong's side, their top-tier security team was also mobilized to simultaneously attempt to breach the super firewall.

However...

Only five minutes later.

The computers of both security teams were locked down at the exact same time!

"I apologize, Dean, but I think what I said earlier was still too conservative. Not only does this super firewall possess security defense capabilities, but it also features automatic anti-tracking functions. We tried practically every hidden routing method possible, yet we were still precisely targeted and counter-inveigled."

A look of embarrassment appeared on the face of the chief security officer, but it was overwhelmingly overshadowed by a flush of excitement!

The capabilities of this super firewall were so formidable they defied comprehension!

Not only were they utterly incapable of breaching it, but they had also been counter-tracked and had their computers forcibly locked down.

At the same time, the super firewall issued a prompt, explicitly listing the number of attacks it had just sustained, while displaying the results of the counter-attack alongside the opponent's IP address, reminding the system user to execute security alarm protocols.

"This..."

Seeing this information manifest simultaneously, Zhao Zizhen and Ye Guhong were left entirely speechless by their astonishment.

The chief security officer excitedly declared, "This super firewall is far too powerful; I'm afraid it surpasses our entire defense system. If it can be independently extracted, I believe it is entirely fit to be used as our nation's official defense system!"

"Not only will our security performance be dramatically enhanced, but we can even leverage this to clearly see precisely which nations have been relentlessly launching cyber intrusions against us!"

These words caused the expressions of Ye Guhong and the others to shift drastically!

"Chief Engineer Liao, are you certain that this super firewall is powerful enough to be utilized as our official security defense system?"

Ye Guhong spoke, his tone exceptionally grave!
